A: Well almost, you need to know what you are doing first, then other things you have to consider. Trans mount set up, manual and auto are different, shift linkage, farly easy to set up and install, driveshat length, So no just buying a trans is not the only thing you have to do, but is do able and a lot easier than switching a auto to a manual

I have a 1969 Chevelle with an Inline 6 engine. My mechanic said that my exhaust manifold has a crack in it and that I will need to remove it and repair it before it will pass inspection. I have been putting this off for a while and now I am ready to pull it off. How do I remove it from the engine block? Do I need to remove the air intake manifold first?
Will I also have to take off the carburetor or should I leave it on?
A: Take the intake and exhaust manifolds off together . They are bolted together so you separate them after you remove them from the motor. If It is cracked you should be able to get one at the salvage yard. Lots of cars and trucks use the same manifold……………………….UJN
EDIT you don’t have to remove the carb but its easier to do if its off. Then leave the 3 bolts loose that hold the two manifolds together and put the manifold on the motor and tighten to the motor and then tighten the bolts beside the carb that bolts the two manifolds together. You don’t need to have them planed or ground as was mentioned as I have never had one leak . Go get an intake and exhaust gasket set for your car. It will be in one box and have the manifold gaskets also should have the donut for the exhaust pipe and the gasket that goes between the two manifolds. You will also need a carb mounting gasket if you remove the carb. Hope this helps.

Im deciding what size engine I should put into my 1969 Chevelle. Right now it has a 350 with and a 350 tranny. I want to put a 454 in it but im not sure what year of engine block/tranny I should get and whatnot. Any advice? Trying to go mostly original engine here and im not looking to spend over 2k.
A: 454 was not available in 69…most 69 super stock,s came with a 396…but special order 427 was available at some dealership,s….if you want to stay mostly original then check the V.I.N. number to identify the engine it came with & whether or not it is a SS. …if it is just a plain old chevelle then you can do just about anything you want or afford…but to stay at least half way original go with a 396/375 H.P. or sink your money into that small block….good luck!

A: Currently there are 1000 cubic inch Chevy big blocks available that will fit right into your Chevelle. You do have one don’t you? They will also fit right into a Nova, 68 to 79, with no modifications. A Plymouth barracuda will not fit into a Chevelle or a Nova, what kind of question is that? Aftermarket blocks and cranks etc have made such questions silly after all. You just look in the piggy bank and whatever you’ve got the vendors can spend for you.

I just bought a 1969 Chevelle Malibu for 10 K, it was a steel, perfect condition, 396, new interior fully restored. It just needs painted, i was going to buy a New Grabber Orange mustang 07 but i saw this on the road and got.
I just wondered what color i should paint cuz i still might get it orange with white stripes, any other opinions.
(coarse right now people at school(High School) thinks its a piece of S@#$, so they challenge to race me and they get their a## kicked, gotta love it)

A: don’t!!!!! you’ve got a classic muscle car. Don’t screw it up with any non-stock mods. you want to go real fast ??? Put a nitros kit on something cheap and replacable. Like a honda or a toyota or a rx-7

A: I’d say it’s a good idea. Consider what you pay for insurance. If your chevelle is stolen, it could be in parts in less than 24 hours.
You don’t have to pay a tracking fee until the car is stolen. just call them, and they call the police and they tell them where the car is.
They are also working on a product called classic trak for older cars that can be hardwired.
Garmin can’t call the police, and you cant look up your position on the internet with it.

A: Go to EBay.com. Also keep looking for ur dream car. Don’t get one that is not as common as others or just because someone else has one. I like the 1969 Chevy Camaro. I like the body style and it’s a pretty nice racing machine. It’s better if there are alot of camaro’s out there, it will be easier to find one.
Q: How would I go about painting the dash of a 1969 Chevelle?
I don’t want to ruin the coarse finnish of the dash by sanding it. Any suggestioons would be appreciated.
A: Use a factory style penetrating dye. VHT brand is great, I use it alot. It does not build up like paint, and will not cover the original grain pattern of the dash. Duplicolor is another decent brand. You should be able to get it at your local parts store, not at walmart. All you have to do is clean the dash really good (no sanding). I have done alot of cars, several times with mismatched colors and have had great results. My latest project that has been color changed, is here for example
