Q: Nissan Gtr?
ok me and my girlfriend and mom landed in Tennessee around nashville for my gf’s cousins graduation and we got picked up from the airport by her aunt and as we were riding to their house my girlfriend says “oo hey thats a pretty car” and i looked over and it was a silver nissan gtr i almost S*** a brick i was hanging out the window trying to take pics and i still have 3 on my phone…but i thought the gtr wasnt supposed to hit the streets for a few more months? any ideas? a test drive maybe?

A: There are a few GT-R’s roaming around these are ones that have been imported before Nissan have released them worldwide although what they are saying is they will not allow and Nissan workers to do repairs to these cars.

Also there are some prototypes which have been used for track and other test and which have been left behind.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SB4glsQhi3Q
one in Cal.

Q: Nissan GTR….?
What are your thoughts on the soon to be imported Nissan GTR?

A: In the history of japanese car evolution, Nissan produced 2 excelllent car 1) The GTR / Skyline 2) The Altima (Cefiro in asia).
The look of the GTR is actually suitable for mid age taste. In asia, those who can affort a GTR is consider an upper class society. Because not everyone over here can affort a Bimmer, Merc or Lambo. Therefore Nissan easily grab this niche market fast and produced R32, R33 & R34 and have a huge demand for it.
Most asian who drive the R34 are around mid thirties who wants to have real HP & without the overkill look compare to the Toyota Supra which is relatively similar to the GTR.
We in asia here has enjoyed the R34 for number of years now (around +- 8 years) & not to mention those drift junkies who know this car at the back of their fingers.
The R34 is another icon for us beside the Toyota AE86 since the mid eighties. Owning one of these is just like having a 1969 Cobra in America.
Hope you get the idea !

Q: Nissan gtr?
Ok i just graduated and im 17 my dad is going to buy me a car!, but i heard the nissan 2009 gtr was supposed to come out this year in the us? so can someone tell me when will it be out?….
its between this car or a 2005 infinity g35 thanks!.

A: Are you serious? So it’s between a used $17K luxury sedan vs. an $80K supercar(which will be marked up to $150K for a few months)? Anyways, if you’re not on the waiting list you aren’t getting one for a while.

Q: How much is a 2009 Nissan GTR and where/which companies currently import it to Singapore?
How much is a 2009 Nissan GTR in Singapore and where can it be found/which companies currently import it to Singapore?

And also are there any parallel importers for it?

A: there about $70,000 i believe as of the inport question i dont know

Q: How much would it cost to make a 2009 Nissan GTR a 1000HP?
How much would it cost to make a 2009 Nissan GTR a 1000HP?
Also would it make it 0 to 60 in 2.4 seconds?

A: This does happen Henessey or however you spell it sells upgraded kits i think they take the car and upgrade it and have different stages and know one of them is 1000hp so it is very achievable, plus you will most def beat the gtr v-spec and have spent less than buying it. check the website i posted its 800hp

Q: How much would it cost to tune a 2009 Nissan GTR to go 0 to 60 in under 3 seconds?
How much would it cost to tune a 2009 Nissan GTR to go 0 to 60 in under 3 seconds? Right now it takes 3.6 seconds.
Okay then how much would it cost to make it go to 0-60 in under 3 seconds?

A: Just how many cars do you think can out run a GT-R? a Modified Subaru or EVO may get a jump on the GT-R but those cars would never be as nice to drive or last as long. GT-R have data recorders that Nissan Technicians can download if the GT-R owner starts changing boost and making changes. Nissan will promptly void the warranty if the technician can prove the modification lead to a part failure.

Q: How much would The 2008 Nissan GTR cost in Australia?
Im thinking of buying one and getting rid of my Mazda RX7
What are the Transmissions in the Nissan GTR?
And what Should i get inline 6
inline 4
V8?
Are Nissan going to stop making them in 2009?

A: bro there’ only one version of GTR and that’s the twin turbo i6.

and all GTR has DSG/SMG tranmission, which is twin clutches aka F! clutch.

you also excellent taste. This is like a baby veyron.

0-60 3.5

not sure how much it will costs in down under, but it’s also 70k in the state, and that’s not including dealer markup.

also nissan is making only 1000 of these per month so the supply will be tight.

sorry i just look it up, it’s twin turbo v6 NOT I6.

since NIssan spent tons of money on making the car, they will continue making it for couple of years.

at least to cover ROI.

Q: what is the maximum horsepower a nissan GTR V6 engine can have?
I was wanting to know what the maximum horsepower a Nissan GTR V6 engine can have? Anything goes w/ or w/o supercharger or w/ or w/o turbo charger. Thanks for the help I dont want info on the V8.

A: Two problems with the VR38DETT: It’s a fairly small displacement engine, and it’s an aluminum block. Not a good combination if you’re looking for 4 digit horsepower.

The old RB series inline six was also small displacement, but it could make a lot of horsepower just by boosting the hell out of it, since it had a heavy iron block that could handle high levels of boost….50 psi and higher.

Some other aluminum engines, such as Chevrolet LS-series V8s, can produce over 1,000 horsepower out of an aluminum block, but that’s because they are high displacement engines of between 5.7 and 7 liters. Therefore, they require less boost to achieve that level of horsepower….as in about 15-20 psi.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that the VR38 might be able to achieve 800-900 horspower eventually, but I don’t ever expect it to break 4 digits. Then again, I could be proven wrong….

Q: How much would it cost to make a 2009 Nissan GTR go 0 to 60 in under 3 seconds?
How much would it cost to make a 2009 Nissan GTR go 0 to 60 in under 3 seconds? What will i need?

A: There are new tuning parts out there for this car with the manifold and exhaust setup as well as other tuning parts best bet is to contact firms like topsecret in Japan whom tune thee cars and you know you are contacting a well known company.

Q: Who is the top Nissan Skyline GTR tuner in the world?
HKS, Top Secret, Amuse, AMS, Tommy Kiara…? I’m asking because I plan to purchase the new Nissan GTR and tune it for maximum track/autocross performance. Who would you recommend?

A: mines have been modding the new GT-R .

http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/Video/Search-Results/Video/Features/Nissan-GT-R-blasts-around-Rockingham/

Iam sure the other companies are on the build also and they have a good name for themselves also. And dont forget about Nismo.and Trial.
http://www.topsecretjpn.com/gallery.shtml
No mention on there yet,Top secret are more famous to me for there skyline work although they did make a supra with a skyline engine.

Q: How much would it cost to put a nicer wing on the 2009 Nissan GTR?
How much would it cost to put a nicer wing on the 2009 Nissan GTR?

A: There is a new movable wing out there for the GT-R but i have no prices, other than that you could add a universal one,the it is just taking it to a body shop to get it fitted and patched up.

Q: Does anyone have tuning for a nissan gtr r35 in speed mode?
Does anyone have tuning for a nissan gtr r35 in speed mode?
I’m talking in Need for Speed Prostreet. so do you have any tuning tips?

A: O of course, since most people can afford a GTR

Q: How much will a 2009 Nissan GTR be in 2012?
How much will a 2009 Nissan GTR be in 2012? Also how much would it cost to tune it to become a 1000HP and safe?

A: It would depend entirely on the mileage and condition of the vehicle three years in the future, which I won’t even try to predict. The only thing that can be said with certainty is it will be worth less than now, since vehicles depreciate for the most part.

As to costs to modify the vehicle, another complete unknown.

Q: How much would it cost to buy a 2009 Nissan GTR in 2012 and also upgrade it to a 1000HP and still be safe?
How much would it cost to buy a 2009 Nissan GTR in 2012 and also upgrade it to a 1000HP and still be safe?
Also would it be able to make 0-60 in 2.6 seconds?
Also could I make it to a 1000HP with $30,000 and be safe?

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carinsurance.yoll.net

Q: How much to make a 2009 nissan GTR 1000 HP and also be safe?
How much to make a 2009 nissan GTR 1000 HP and also be safe?
Would i need to rebuild the engine or could i put a turbo charger on it?
How much will it cost?
Guys just tell me the price please i just want this car? thanks

A: First off, the car is $100,000 off the lot, and it makes about 400 wheel hp right now. A few companies have done work on these and some have reached the 700 whp mark, BUT after about another $40,000-$60,000 in upgrades. Remember once you hit a certain level of power, other things need to be addressed, such as the braking system, clutch, transmission, traction, and safety. If you want a 1000 HP GTR you will spend roughly another $300,000 in doing so and making it safe.

Q: what are the years of pickups you can use to replace a 1999 grille on a chevy tahoe?
Can you use a 1992 chevy truck grille to replace on a 1999 chevy tahoe? Tahoe is wrecked and needs grille found a 92

A: Chevy truck grilles should be interchangeable from 1988-1998. There are just two different styles. If you want one that looks like your original grill look for the years 1994-1998. If you want the old style, look for 1988-1993 grilles.

Q: what size speakers go into a 1999 Chevy Tahoe?
I am planning on upgrading all of my speakers in my tahoe and I dont know what sizes I need. Any one who can help please do so.

Rear Door: 6-3/4″

Q: How do i change the fuel pump on a 1999 Chevy Tahoe Four Door?
my tahoe wont start and i checked all the fuses and i checked the fuel filter. now i bought a cold start engine starter can of aerosol from autozone. and it runs off that but i wont fully turn over and run by itself..

so now my guess is that its the fuel pump that gave out.. any other suggestions?

A: Try a new fuel pump relay,If that don’t work fuel pump is in gas tank. Will have to be removed to replace.

Q: 1999 chevy Tahoe wont start but turns over.?
My 1999 Chevy Tahoe wont start it turns over and I can hear the fuel pump running. I have replaced the plugs and wires, I have spark. It will not start if I pour gas down the throttle body but I do have fuel coming I can see it in the throttle body. Any suggestions please?

A: Crank Sensor
Cam Sensor
Ignition Module.

Can you find someone with a scanner to read codes. That might point you in the right direction.

Q: i want to trade in my 1999 chevy tahoe for a more fuel efficient car?
the thing is I still owe about $9,000 on the tahoe. So what is the best thing to do?

A: get comfortable. You won’t get $9k out of your Tahoe unless you sell it outright. Even then it may come up a little short. You dont mention miles or condition of the car. So assuming the average miles – 12k / yr = 108,000 miles and average condition, your trae value is about $4000 tops.

Add to that, most dealers will not want this car on their lot. So as a trade, they need to look at auction value. Plan on getting about $3-3500 for the car on trade.

If you sell it outright on the streets – you MIGHT get closer to what you owe. if you come up short, you have to make up that difference in cash.

A lot of people – dealers especially – will invite you to trade the car in and roll that negative equity into the new car loan. I strongly caution against this.

If we get really generous and allow $4000 for the trade, that means you are roling an extra $5000 into the new car loan. That $5000 just gets tacked on top of the loan.

In order to get a bank loan that allows an extra $5k added on you need really good credit. And, assuming that you have to do this, I also assume you have little or no down. That means that no matter what you buy, you will be adding $5000 PLUS tax, DMV fees, etc to the next car loan.

You will have to look at a car in the $20K range to have any hope of getting that kind of advance – 125% of the car value + TTL. So, you will end up making payments on $20K, the fees on 20K (about $2000) and the $5k you added to the loan.

You now owe $27,000 on a car worth $20k. When you drive off, that car is worth about $15,000. You are now $12,000 upside down.

but it gets worse. You wont be able to trade out of this new car for at least 4 yrs. Youwill have to make that many payments just to get close to what you will owe.

your payments on that deal will be around $450 for 72 months.

I dont know waht your payments are now. But I bet you can make the payments, absorb the gas costs, and be well ahead of the game if you just tighten up in a few places.

Cheers – good luck – think this over thoroughly

Q: How do you adjust the steering gear box on a 1999 chevy tahoe?
The steering wheel has a too much play for me. How can I fix it?

A: I would check the other parts tie rods, idler arm, ect the gear box has very little adjustment and usually 99% is not the problem. after the parts are replaced the truck will need to be aligned. shop around prices vary in this case even auto zone lifetime are moog parts .good luck

Q: How Do I change the Ball Joints on a 1999 Chevy Tahoe?
I’m having a hard time making right turns. The power steering fluid is full. The dust boots on the lower ball joints on both sides is cracked. Should I attempt to replace the ball joints myself or just take it to the shop? What would be the average price for all four ball joints to be replaced? Thanks!

A: Raise the front end off the ground, place jack stands under the frame so the front suspension hangs free. Take a long pry bar or a wrecking bar if that’s all you have. Move the lower ‘A’ frames up and down. Grab the tires and see if they move around or feel “loose”. If the ball joints are bad, you’ll see them move. You can also work the steering back and forth and maybe see whats binding. Ball joints are not hard to change, they are not very expensive.

Q: How do I change a signal turn light on a 1999 Chevy Tahoe?
My blinker on the drivers side is out, and I don’t want to get a ticket. I know it has to be an easy fix.
I cannot see how to gain access to the light compartment.

A: front light? If so then there are 2 L shaped rods on the headlight housing. You turn them and pull them up. Then the whole headlight assembly comes out and you can now get to the blinker light. the rear open the rear doors and you should see 2 screws on each side take out the 2 on the side that is out and the whole plastic light casing will come off.

Q: How do I take apart the inside drivers side door panel on a 1999 Chevy Tahoe?
Something fell down there and I need to get to it. Thank you!

A: unscrew and pull

Q: 1999 chevy tahoe starter will only click when i start it?
will the park/neutral switch have any thing to do with the truck not start in
the battery is good it reads 12.8 v when engine off with no key in i can go from p to d

A: If the starter solenoid is the click, then all the interlock switches are okay. Are the headlight & horn okay ?? If the starter is the only electrical thing not functioning, better start looking there.

Q: need to know about a 1999 chevy tahoe any answers out there?
my 1999 chevy tahoe is making noise when i put it in reverse and drive but more in reverse.

A: take it to an automotive shop to let them check it out. or maybe if you have power steering, than you are just low on the fluid. Good luck

Q: What is this growling noise coming from the front left tire area of my 1999 Chevy Tahoe?
At about 55-65 MPH the front driver wheel area begins to growl, especially when I apply gas. What could this be? PLEASE HELP!

A: Your wheel bearing needs replacement

Q: which as the better gas mileage 1999 chevy tahoe or the 1999 ford expedition?
I am in the process of buying a 1999 Chevy Tahoe, but I also have an option of getting a Expedition. I am from the Bahamas and gas prices here are $4.31 a gallon. I am trying to find out which vechile is better on gas. better yet which one is better over all.

A: Here is a side-by-side comparison of the two vehicles you’re considering (using a 1999 Tahoe 2-Door 2WD vs. a 1999 Expedition XLT 2WD):

Base Retail Price (MSRP)
Tahoe: $24,120
Ford: $29,355

Base Invoice Price
Tahoe: $21,105
Ford: $25,687

Kelley Blue Book Price
Tahoe: $9,400 – $10,250
Ford: $10,550 – $11,550

Engine Power, standard
Tahoe: 5.7L 255 hp V8
Ford: 4.6L 240 hp V8

Fuel Economy (miles per gallon)
Tahoe City: 14
Ford City: 13
Tahoe Highway: 18
Ford Highway: 18

Hope this helps!

Q: Toyota Landcruiser?
The end of the exhaust is constantly drpping oil, can any body help me by letting me know what the fault is.

Thanks

A: If it is oil you have issues and need to have it brought to a shop. make sure it is not just water colored black because of carbon buildup in the exhaust system.

Q: How much power does a 1982-87 Toyota LandCruiser FJ60 have?
How much power does a 1982-87 Toyota LandCrusier FJ60 have that came from the factory?

Also why did they drop the 4 speed manual transmission in favor of the automatic in 1988? I personally thought that was a poor move for the LandCruiser, why couldn’t they keep on with the manual transmission?

A: an 82-87 cruiser has a 2f engine which has about 165 horsepower and 210 ft.lbs. of torque @ 1800 RPM/{lots of grunt, but not much speed.:)

Q: What kind of MPG can I expect from a 1980 toyota landcruiser BJ40?
Im looking to get a 1980 toyota landcruiser diesel. Im wondering what kind of city/highway mpg I can expect to get?

A: A friend of mine has a 78…He gets 18 to 20 With larger tires and alot of gear on it….

Q: what years will my 1992 toyota landcruiser 3rd row fit?
hi we havve a 1992 toyota landcruiser and are wondering if anyone knows or knows how to find out what years of the landcruiser they fit. Thanks!

A: I’m assuming you’re in the US, in which case you have a 1992 FJ80 Land Cruiser. (the Land Cruiser name covers many models around the world, even during the same model year)

In that case, your third-row seats should fit all 91-97 80-series Land Cruisers. The actual models are FJ80 and FZJ80 in the US, and also HDJ80 outside the US, but they’ll all have the exact same body style as your 92. Your 92 seats are probably cloth though, and all US Land Cruisers had all leather upholstery after 93 or 94.

Q: Cost to install a trailer hitch to Toyota Landcruiser?
I have a standard 1998 Toyota Landcruiser.

How much does it cost to install a trailer hitch.
I want to tow a light trailer.
Do I need to tell them to set up the electrical stuff too – like breaks or will they do that automatically?
please include a price that includes this hitch. Thanks…

A: 2-3hunderd and they will do the electric stuff automatically

Q: Options/Diagnosis of blown head gasket in 1995 Toyota Landcruiser?
I have a 1995 Toyota Landcruiser, and it is overheating when I take it on the highway (not in town.) At some point the engine released (radiator fluid? muddy water?) though I was not there for the event. It is not leaking and no white smoke from the exhaust. There is no noticable leak internally. Mechanic has flushed three times, and now removing to “clean” and see if the bottom of the radiator a)can get water flow and b)has a crack or blown head gasket. Says I may need new radiator if cant clean. First, what do these symptoms indicate? Next, how much should it cost for new radiator? Last, is there a way to repair a radiator? I’m not a mechanic, and feeling slightly vulnerable to the specialists. Thanks for any advice you can offer.

A: If it’s a diesel engine, the oil cooler may be leaking. Another possibility is the Auto tranny cooler in the rad. Have the oil anilized to determine which type of fluid. A lot cheaper than tearing the engine down.

»»»

Q: If I buy a Toyota Landcruiser and like Air Cooled seats not available, then can install Lexus A/C salvage seat?
I would get a seat out of a Lexus 570 that is air cooled and put it in the Toyota Landcruiser and hook up the electronics? Is this possible? Who can I ask to make sure this is possible???
Thanks, TJW

A: NO dealer will do this for you because it violates Federal safety standards. Only a seat meant specifically for that vehicle can be installed in it. If any modifications are done to it and you’re hurt in an accident, the dealer can be sued big time.

And most repair shops won’t do it either. There’s just way too much liability concerns involved.

Now if you want to do it on your own, you’ll have to be sure that the L/C wiring harnesses are the exact same as the Lexus. You have to be sure all the connectors are there and that the impedance and voltage across the wires are the same since it will be connected to the fuse box.

You’ll also have to check for relays and other circuitry that operate the cooling seats to be sure they’re in place too. Without them, the seat functions won’t work. The final thing to consider is mounting the switches for turning on and off the cooling system and a potentiometer for the degree of cooling you want.

It’s a lot of work that will require a lot of research and even more hours of labor. But if you have the ingenuity and the time, try it. Otherwise, save up a few more bucks and get the Lexus equipped the way you want it.

Q: Would there be a problem with buying a petrol-run toyota landcruiser that has done 200,000kms?
I have always heard diesle engines last longer, would a landcruiser engine that has done 200,000 kms be just about done for?

A: It may be problems with the engine after 200.000kms.Yes, diesel engines are much better, last longer, bigger torque.
European diesel engines are much better than US engines.(power, fiability,)
The diesel engine can run twice as much petrol run engines.
For example the Audi racing team choose for the R10 Le Mans car a V12 TDI diesel engine(650Bhp)

Q: 1993 toyota landcruiser heating unit buttons stuck, help?
My 80 series toyota landcruiser heater unit low high settings button is stuck in one setting. Even if i try to hit the off button or any other buttons it will not change….

A: I would try spraying contact cleaner in and around the switch.

Q: The lights on my toyota landcruiser won’t turn off when it rains hard. Why?
Whenever it rains hard the lights on my 2003 toyota landcruiser won’t turn off and the battery eventually dies. The dealership has repeatedly said that they can’t find anything wrong, but it continues to happen. Does anyone know why, and how I can fix it? Thanks.

A: i own a repair shop, and you got a bad switch or a relay drawing moisture on it making them stay on,like this, you,ll need to have it checked out real good to see what it is causing this to happen, you may have to take it to a good mechanic to see if he can figure it out these can sometimes be tricky to solve, good luck,i hope this help,s.

Q: Would you spend 5600 dollars on a 92 Toyota Landcruiser?
It only has 82,000 miles on it. But I need something that is a little bit reliable. Your opinion? Can I trust a car that is 17 years old even if it is a Toyota?

A: $5600 for a Landcruiser, no matter the year, is a good price.

Having owned many Landcruisers myself, you will find them to be reliable as far as major items go. Little things might go bad, but a repair never cost me more than $200 in parts (of course, I did the work myself).

I would say take it to a Toyota Dealer and have them do a complete inspection before you actually plunk down the cash, because you never know: This might be the one Landcruiser that tuns out to be a money pit. It might cost you some money up front for the inspection, but it will give you the piece of mind to know exactly what is wrong with the vehicle and help you decide whether or not it is the right vehicle for you.

Q: How reliable are the electronics on the Toyota Landcruiser 200 series?
Looking to travel around the world for 2 years, and investing in a car which i’ll be living in! I’ll be spending a lot of time in the sahara and deserts. I hear landcruisers are the most reliables 4×4s. But how reliable are the electronics? Do they fail occasionally? Are they easy to fix by yourself if you’re in the middle of nowhere?! Do you suggest any other cars which are comfortable and provide high performance?

A: Here’s some basics. Just like that of a manual transmission, the automatic transmission’s primary job is to allow the engine to operate in its narrow range of speeds while providing a wide range of output speeds.
Without a transmission, cars would be limited to one gear ratio, and that ratio would have to be selected to allow the car to travel at the desired top speed. If you wanted a top speed of 80 mph (130 km/h elsewhere), then the gear ratio would be similar to fourth gear in most manual transmission cars.
You’ve probably never tried driving a manual transmission car using only fourth gear. If you did, you would quickly find out that you had almost no acceleration when starting out, and at high speeds, the engine would be screaming along near redline. A car like this would wear out very quickly and would not be drivable.
When choosing between manual and automatic, one of the considerations is power.
If you want the most power from your engine, going with a manual transmission versus an automatic is most likely going to be your best bet.
While some modern automatic transmissions, i.e. CVT transmissions, manumatics, and conventional 4 or 5-speed automatic transmissions allow for some excellent acceleration, there is still usually a substantial difference in 0-60 times between these types of automatics and a 5 or 6-speed manual transmission.
For example, an automatic equipped Dodge Neon has a reported 0-60 MPH time of approximately 10.5 seconds.
The same Neon when equipped with a 5-speed manual has a reported 0-60 time of 8.1 seconds; a huge difference.
While most cars do not have this large of a 0-60 MPH gap between auto and manual transmissions, 99 percent of the time you will receive noticeably better performance from a manual gearbox.
The acceleration offered from a vehicle when equipped with a manual transmission is usually superior for a number of reasons; most predominantly due to gear ratios and the availability for more precise shifting. To explain, if you own a car that receives 200 horsepower @ 7,000 RPM, but your automatic transmission will up-shift under full throttle at only 6,000 RPM, you probably will never feel the full amount of power that your engine was made to offer. So, your engine may be stamped with a 200 horsepower rating, but because your car is equipped with an automatic that up-shifts too soon, you may be missing up to 20% of available power. On the other side, with most manual transmissions, you can usually take the engine revs to redline (or past). This enables you to get the most power possible to the front, rear, or all 4 wheels under full throttle take-offs.
So, is fuel economy a huge issue?
If you answered yes, then going with a manual transmission is probably going to be your best bet, although it is far from your only choice.
Many newer cars with automatics have an EPA rating of only 1 or 2 MPG less than the same model car equipped with the manual.
With everything in life, there are exceptions to this rule. Some vehicles get better mileage (5 mpg or more) as an automatic compared to the manual, most notably in Toyota’s like RAV4, and the FJ Cruiser.
If this is the case, most people are not going to save a significant amount of money on fuel costs going with the 5-speed manual (especially if you do a lot of city driving).
Since the majority of drivers do not manually shift for economy (or know how to), the 1 or 2 MPG that is lost with the automatic can easily be gained.
Maintenance/Repair costs:
Even though the automotive world has come extremely far with refining automatic transmissions, most automatic transmissions still need to be serviced far more often than manual transmissions (some auto manufacturers state that their manual transmissions never have to be serviced with fluid changes, etc.
Manual transmissions are also usually slightly/much cheaper to fix when something mechanical goes haywire. This is not always the case, but on average, a manual transmission will cost you less to repair than an automatic in the same type of vehicle.
The clutch disc in manual transmissions does need to be replaced on occasion. There are many factors that determine how long a clutch will last such as driving style, the material the clutch disc is made of, and the amount of city vs. highway driving. Clutch replacement is often a labor intensive task and can cost several hundred dollars if performed at a repair shop.
You need to identify your Needs:
The engine that your car is equipped with makes a huge difference to which type of transmission should be chosen. To explain, if you are looking to buy a car with a 1.5 liter 4-cylinder that pumps out 62 horsepower, and 75 lb-ft of torque you will most likely want/need to go with a manual transmission. Since power in this case is extremely limited, you will need to make the most out of your engine for hill climbing, passing power, etc.
On the other hand, if you’re looking to purchase a car with a

Q: where is th auxilry input for like ipods and that in the new toyota landcruiser?
hi i just got a new top of the range landcruiser and i was wondering where the auxilary (aux) input is?

thanks

A: Check the owners manual.

Q: Can you put a install ‘96 and on grill on a ‘91 toyota landcruiser?
I have a ‘91 landcruiser as my second car, and I was just wondering if you can install a newer looking grill like the ones from the models of the late 90’s-early 2000’s, on a ‘91?
I meant a 96 landcruiser grill on a ‘91 landcruiser?

A: yes, I can. with some modification.

Q: how much does a 2000 toyota landcruiser cost?
my man bought me a truck,, i am so happy but it is kinda big for me to drive. i have been driving slowly. i just was curious how much does this car go for and what does it have to do with being a lexus. he swears it is a lexus, but the back of my car says toyota land cruiser. thanks.

A: Lexus is the luxury division of Toyota, but yours is a Toyota Land Cruiser. I’d say a 2000 would be worth about $20,000, cause a new one is about $55,000-$60,000.

Q: Mazda Rx8?????
What are your feelings on a 2005 Mazda Rx8? Are they good vehicles? Have you had any problems with them? Thanks!

A: I own an ‘05 Grand Sport 6MT RX8 bought new in June/05.

I haven’t had a single problem with her. She’s only seen the shop for regular scheduled maintenance.

The car is great fun to drive and I’m very happy to have bought her.

YMMV

Q: mazda rx8????
thinking about buying a 2004 mazda rx8 electric blue auto, black leather sunroof etc. 25,000k dealership said they have had a couple of problems with it. but i can buy warranty with it should i nice car

A: Yes, Mazda does make an auto trans RX8.

In the ‘04 and ‘05 models you only get the 4 port Renesis engine instead of 6 port available to the 6MT drivers. The 4 port only makes around 192 HP instead of 238 in the 6 port.

If the price is good enough, and the warranty available goes long enough then it may be a good deal. Make sure the “problems” you speak of are corrected, and that all recalls are completed.

Q: Mazda RX8???
What’s your opinion of the Mazda RX8?
Pros? Cons?
Would you buy it?

A: I would not buy it because I have driven it and it dissapointed me. The car looks and sounds great, but it doesn’t feel fast when you drive it. I even drove the manual version and I floored it, but i didn’t feel anything. The side mirrors are also to close to you and you have to turn your head to look through it.

Q: mazda rx8……………?
i have been doing my research for my rx8 to realize that everything is well built, and that i am not going to be buying any aftermarket parts because there too little gains for such a pricey pricey parts for no gains……
just going to buy the stock rx8 spoiler because mine didnt come with it.
nordic green AT 04 rx8 stock

A: Good choice. As I said in a previous answer (and you figured out) the $$-per-HP gain is too high for the usual basic mods.

If you really want some upgrades, keep saving and look into this Supercharger kit:

http://www.pettitracing.com/rx8/index_turbo.htm

Q: Where can i get a Mazda RX8 that is affordable in Philadelpia?
Im into cars and while watching tokyo drift i caught my eye on Mazda RX8 the girl was drivng and i’ve wanted it ever since! Problem is, they are a bit pricey. Does anyone know where i can get an affordable one? Used or whatever, it doesn’t matter. I live in Philadelphia. Thnkx

A: Also check www.ebay.com and see what the RX-8’s have been selling for and what they have for sale currently.

Q: How can I increase the horsepower of my 2007 Mazda rx8 to 260+?
I have a 2007 Mazda rx8, and it’s a 6-speed manual. How can I increase the hp to 260+ without using a turbo with intercooler. If possible can you state how much hp each mod would aprox. Provide. Thanks in advance!

A: Trevor’s answer would be correct for most cars, but not the RX8.

Mazda did a very good job of tuning the intake & exhaust, and the car already uses special plugs and coils. Upgrading all of these and even headers does very little to increase power, regardless of what some of the parts manufacturers may state in the advertising. All of the mods above *might* net you 15 HP at the flywheel. Although a high-flow cat can be worth about 8 HP, so that’s a good one.

And it you’re looking for 260 at the wheels you’re definitely going to require forced induction or rebuilding the motor.

Go to the owners forum at:

http://www.rx8club.com

Just about every product imaginable has been dyno tested so you can see the real world results.

Q: Can You find a Mazda RX8 REVOLUTION in the US?
Trying to find a Mazda Rx8 REVOLUTION to purchase, any details would be great.

A: http://www.automotive.com/used-cars/classifieds/11/mazda/rx-8/index.html

Q: What is a good extended warranty to buy for a 2005 Mazda Rx8?
I am going to buy a 2005 Mazda RX8 with 46k miles on it. I want to get a warranty that covers a lot of what people say seem to break down so much on them. Any suggestions of where and what kind to get. I know that Mazda extended the Engine warranty, but that is a very basic warranty. I looking for a good warranty for price and results.

Thanks,
James

A: pretty much the only extended warranty places have been sued by attorney generals in many states, because they are all greedy cheating companies, the only warranty that is worth anything is a factory warranty, everything else that breaks on a car is normal wear and tear items. you want to keep your car new, dont drive it, thats the only way. There is no company that pays off unless your car is new.

Q: Where can i get good quality performance parts and interior and exterior parts for a Mazda RX8?
i want to improve the look and power of my Mazda RX8 and i cant really find a place. so if you guys can give me some ideas that would be awesome!

A: I own a company called AutoModCentral. We’re a local store right now, and we’re building a website. Email me at automodcentral@yahoo.com and I’ll send you the link to the site and price you up anything you’re looking for at a discount.

Q: How long would a 2004 Mazda RX8 engine last?
i want to buy a used mazda Rx8 for less than 10k. but it has close to 84 thousand miles. i want to know if it is worth the cost, and how many more miles that engine will pump out for me. and possibly what the max amount of miles it can get upto. Also if anybody knows, Mazda’s use Rotary Engine, are they cheaper to replace than normal ones? if so, how much?

A: It will last until it breaks down.

An engine doesn’t have an expiration date, or an expiration mileage.

Seriously. Think about it. Why would miles mean something is in good shape or bad shape? All that really matters is how it is MAINTAINED during that time.

I’ve got two cars with over 300k miles EACH. Run like the day they were made. So 84k miles isn’t even breaking the car in.

Q: What price can I get a used mazda rx8 for?
How much do you think is a good price for a used 2004 mazda rx8?

A: Depends on how many miles, equipment, condition and where you live. I think the average is around $10,500.00 to $13,100.00 dollars.

Q: mazda Rx8 2008 wont start what could be the problem?
I have an Mazda rx8 that wont start when i go to start it I get a clicking noise. We did try to jumpstart the car and it then sounded like it was trying to start but wouldnt start all the way. Now the windows the lights in the car all work but the car wont start. what can be the problem? We think its the battery since we did try and jumpstart it and it was actually trying to start, but when we took the jumper cables off it went back to the clicking noise. any ideas?

A: Most likely the battery.
It’s natural that it should jumpstart and then revert to the old situation – you didn’t actually recharge the battery by jumpstarting the engine.
Try to slow-charge for 12 hrs or so and see the result. If it wouldn’t hold the charge for 2…3 days, replace it. Alternatively, go to the battery shop and have the battery tested (this is faster) and if dead, buy another one there.

Q: Can anyone tell me about an automatic transmission mazda rx8?
I love the look of sporty cars, but i don’t want to drive with a manual tranmission. The mazda rx8 caught my eye and i have seen a few with automatic transmissions. I have heard a lot of things about the rx8 that worry me, like that its high maitenence, it eats up oil and gas quickly and some stuff about the rotary engine that sounds like a pain. I was wondering if these things are true only to the manual, or if they apply to the automatic aswell(or if they are even true at all).
I appreciate any information i can get on the car! thanx
This is also my first car ever, so im looking for something reliable. For the most part ill be driving to school and home and around town, not any long distances. Let me kno if you have any suggestions!

A: Theirs really nothing wrong with the car…rotary engines tend to be high maintenence, but it really only applies to rotary motors that have a lot of miles on them. With a brand new rotary powered car you really shouldnt have any big rotary related issues till you get into the 6 digit mileage, even then you could probably go to 200k on the original motor with no problems since its non turbo. the issues do apply to both manual and auto however. and i agree….if you want a sports car you really should buy a manual; however, the automatic RX-8 does come with paddle shifters on the steering wheel and an almost identical motor so it would still be a blast to drive. The automatic has almost 40hp less however. As for oil and gas, itll eat up gas for sure since it only gets 18 mpg, but it wont eat up oil. people like to say that but i have an 88 RX-7 with 118k miles and it doesnt it up oil at all, people will tell you to check your oil at every other gas fill, and while this is a good practice and you should follow just for the heck of it….you really wouldnt need to on a brand new RX-8. i dont with my RX-7 and my oil level is always perfect, probably losses a 1/4 of a quart every month or two, which really isnt bad at all. i say go for it if you have the money…but if youre gonna put a ton of miles on the car, i would choose a different, one, but if youre only going to be driving around your city with the occasional long distance trip, id say go for it!!! although i would prefer a manual myself….

Q: How much value does My 2007 Mazda RX8 and my 2006 Lexus IS-250 have today?
I would like to purchase a used Mercedes SLK-Class maybe a 280 or 350. I would prefer to limit how much I pay to between $19,000-$30,000. I own a 2007 Mazda RX8 and a Lexus IS-250 and both only have 25,000 miles. How much value do you think both the Mazda and the Lexus still have?

A: KBB.com. This site is the official site that shows used car values. I’d say maybe 15k for the Mazda and around twenty something for the Lexus but look it up.

Q: where is the starter on the mazda rx8 located?
I think I might need to replace the starter on my 2004 automatic mazda rx8 and I have no idea where its located?

A: Some googling found this website which has a service manual:
http://foxed.ca/rx7manual/2003mazdarx8/
Click Engine, then starting system, and it has links to a diagram showing where the starter is and instructions on how to inspect or remove it.

Lookin for a buick grand national for sale? Find more auto classifieds and Cars for sale at LemonFree.com

Q: where can I find a buick grand national for sale?
I am looking for a nice summer car, and I only like muscle cars. Money is a little tight right now so I am saving up, and putting cash down for a used car come spring/summer. I was looking at a buick grand national ‘87. does anyone have any feed back about the car? or know where I can find one?

A: Craigslist, Ebay motors, autotrader.com

Q: Why is the Buick Grand National so expensive?
I have found and immaculate 1987 model Grand National for sale in my town. The Kelley Blue Book states the private resale value of the car as $24,000, which is also the asking price of the owner. What makes these cars so special to be valued at such a high price?

A: Because they are a collectors item ! Limited production, having one in “immaculate condition” is like having money in the bank they are race or show cars right off the street and have a large following can run with Corvettes and still get decent mileage .

Q: Where can I get a 1987 Buick Grand National?
I’m looking for just a regular ole’ 87′ Buick Grand National in black…If you know where I can get one, please let me know!! Thanks!!

A: Umm, all 1987 Grand Nationals came in black. These cars are highly coveted and command higher-than-you-might-expect prices. A low-mileage example in good condition can be had for around $20kish. There’s no such thing as a “regular ole’” Grand National.

Q: Is it true that the Buick Grand National was the fastest car built on the assembly line?
If I remember correctly, there was only a certain number of them built between 1985 and 1987 – is that correct as well?

A: You are right for the years but the 87 model was the quickest out of all the years it was built! But v6 turbo engines were put in regals and t-types from 1979 they are very rare cars but the 87 was the quickest, it was quicker then the 87 corvette not bad for a full frame grocery getter car!!! They also made the GNX which is quicker then all of them and only a few were made! If you have one of them they are worth a large coin!!!

Q: where can i buy a 1987 buick grand national for a really cheap price?
hi im 17 and i really like this car and i only have 1200$ saved but i can get 500 more.i want to buy this car to make it my first project car it doesn’t matter how the body is as long as it comes with the original engine.i live in florida btw.thanks for your time and please help me on this.

A: Even though the Buick turbo Regal Grand Nationals are getting close to 25 years old they remain a very strong collectible. Finding one cheap isn’t going to be easy. Even complete basket cases are going for $5000 or more. If you can’t afford to buy one, how on earth do you think you are going to afford to restore one. You could easily put $10,000 into this car and still not be done.

You may love these cars but as a first car you should look elsewhere for something a little more practical.

Q: HELP Find a Brake Booster 85 BUick Grand National?
I have a 85 buick grand national, but i need the brake booster for it, does anyone know where i can find one around the Los Angeles area? Its a hard to find part.

A: www.car-part.com

enter your info and you will have the price and delivery to your door.

good luck

Q: how do you change the digital dash display on the 1984 Buick Grand National from metric to english?
The only button on the cluster just resets the odometer(trip) when in start up, the cluster cycles in eng and metric, so i know it can be done.

A: There should be a Metric/MPH button to reset, my Buick does.

Q: What’s so good about a buick grand national?
I know they have turbos and have like 300hp but that isnt that much.

A: Back in the 80s 300 hp was a lot thanks to the 70’s emissions laws. That was a very fast car for the time.

Q: How can you tell the difference between a true Buick Grand National and a clone?
Anything that can help.. Pics, websites, experience, etc.

A: You can’t be sure between a GN and a turbo Regal, both will have the engine code in the VIN as 7. The RPO sticker can help.

http://www.gnttype.org/general/vin.html

Q: Is there another car similar the Buick Regal Grand National?
I tried out the 1987 Buick Regal Grand National today and I was blown away! I absolutely love it. I love the fast 3.8L Turbocharged, inter-cooled engine. I was wondering if GM made anything else similar to the Grand National? Maybe they made a similar Chevy Monte Carlo or an Oldsmobile Cutlass?

Does anyone know? Thanks for your time.

A: The 1987 Buick Regal was a G platform. This was GM’s midsize RWD car from 1982 to 88. In addition to the Regal, there was also the Chevrolet El Camino, Malibu, Monte Carlo, GMC Caballero, Olds Cutlass, Pontiac Bonneville, Grand Prix, and Grand LeMans. The performance editions were the Monte Carlo SS, Olds 442, and various other alterations of the Regal, among others. I’d say that the Monte Carlo SS would be the most similar to the GN in looks. A Regal T-Type had the 3.8L Turbo as well. The other cars had more powerful V8’s. If you want more, type “GM G platform (RWD)” into Wikipedia.

Q: what would be the insurance for 1987 buick grand national?
im getting my first car and im 17, also what about and 1986,87 regal or regal limited?

A: Not sure, but I do know that insurance on a car that is over 25 years old is a lot cheaper.

Q: What did you think when the Buick Grand National came out?
I’m just curious what some of you muscle car guys thought when the least likely company (Buick) came out with a car faster than a Corvette in 1984. Were you like “oh my god, are you serious?”

A: It was one sweet vehicle to say the least and I still have one customer that has one in storage that has about 3000 miles on it, guess he is just waiting for someone with some serious bucks…..

Q: Does anyone make a body/ground effect kit for a 1986 Buick grand national?
I’d like to find a body kit similar to the dub city car kit for a real car.

A: I would recommend against adding a ground kit. I have a ‘87 GN and can tell you that it is better to keep the factory look. You will always get respect keeping the body stock. You can trick it out with other options, but messing with the look will just cheapen it.

It will never look “Formula 1 Car” fast. Hello – no aerodynamics!! Strictly from an aesthetic standpoint, adding ground effects to an ‘86 GN is like putting a spoiler on a cinder block.

Q: where can I find a store that just has parts for a buick grand national?
It is a popular car but kind of rare it was mad in the mid 80’s and i would like to find an online store that just has parts for that car.

A: Here it is check it out …

http://www.gnttype.org/

Q: I have an 82 Buick Grand National to sell what’s the best way to sell this rare vehicle?
This car is one of 215 made the first year they made the Grand National – it’s a T-Type with less then 60,000 original miles – everything is original except the battery – It’s very rare as there are only about 100 still owned. Unfortunately my husband doesn’t know enough to give it the love it needs. Would like to sell it to a collector or someone that restores them but don’t know how to find someone that would know what they are buying… if anyone has any suggestions they would be welcome… Thanks

A: Hot August Nights is coming up in Reno NV. All sorts of car buffs will be in town, and they hold auctions for selling and buying vehicles!

Q: How much would it cost to buy airbags for a 1968 Ford Mustang?
I’m thinking about purchasing a 1968 ford Mustang Coupe, but I’m not sure how much the airbags would cost to buy and have them installed. Can someone help me out?
Not suspension airbags, safety airbags. I guess I’m asking how cheap could I buy airbags, get them installed, and have sensors put in?

A: Porbably about 250-700 dollars..

Q: Hi, Does anyone have a good wiring diagram for a 1968 Ford Mustang?
I’m looking for a good wiring diagram for a 1968 Mustang. I need both the engine side and the instrument side if possible. Also any advice on where to install the engine ground strap would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help.

A: i own a repair shop and auto zone or advance either one might have this on line,if not you would be better off getting a good repair manual for it because sometimes when you download stuff or print it out ,you loose some of the picture in between pages, and that wont help you much, but there’s plenty of repair manuals on these cars, and there pretty accurate also, good luck with it hope this helps.

Q: Is the 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback doors the same as those of a 1968 Ford Mustang Coupe?
I have a 1968 Fastback and I need doors and a guy has a Coupe and I was going to buy his doors for my Fastback. He won’t let me try them first. If you can please help me I would truly appreciate it. Thanks! Have a nice day!

A: yes they fit its the same car the only difference is the sloped bak

Q: How much does a 1968 ford mustang weigh?
I need to know so I can get it lisenced in Washington.
It is a 2 door hard top coupe, with the 289 small block V8.

A: right at 2950 lbs (this is a guess)

I did find a site that has the six, at 2635 so add a couple hundered for the v8 extras would make it 2835, so I was a little over.

http://www.geocities.com/mustangs68.geo/dif68.html

Here they have it at 3000 lbs

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Mustang#1967.E2.80.931968

Q: What is the value of a 1968 Ford Mustang shell?
The car is a shell with no rust. It has no engine, no transmission, no rear end, no hood, no trunk, no fenders, no interior except the instrument panel. What is the approximate value?
The car is a coupe.

A: you left out one very important detail, which one, notch-back, fastback or convertible? a coupe isn’t worth much, $500 to $1000, but the other two can be worth thousands !!!

Q: How do i check an oil pump on a 1968 Ford Mustang 200cc?
i just rebuilt this straight 6 motor and got it running. i took the valve cover off and ran the motor but i didnt see any oil. how can i check my oil pump?

A: I bet you meant 200CI not cc….real simple on how to check your oil pump: Remove the distributor, look down into the distributor hole….you will see the top of the oil pump, the distributor drives the oil pump on these engines. I believe it is a 5/16 hex shaft that goes into the oil pump (not positive but you are getting what I’m saying?) With a reversible drill and a socket drive, you should be able to “prime” the oil pump. It’s been a really long time since I worked on a 200CI Ford engine so I can’t remember if you want to go clockwise or counter-clockwise (I think it’s clockwise). You will know you’re going in the right direction because the drill motor will start to work harder and pull on your hand after about 20 or so revolutions. You should be getting oil pressure at this time.

Q: how do i fix a jumping speedometer in a 1968 ford mustang?
the speedometer in my 68 jumps around within 5 miles of the speed that im going until it hits fourty then it evens out. any suggestions on a cheap way to fix this?
no jack rabbit starts for me…my uncle though is another story

A: Those Fix-or-replace-daily Mustangs had a habit of getting a “kink” in the cable at the side of the trans. New cable is the answer.

The problem was caused by jack-rabbit starts, but you wouldn’t be guilty of that, now would you.

Q: How much would it cost to get a basket case restored on a 1968 ford mustang?

A: depends how far you want to go, for a good reliable driver you are proud of expect a minimum of 10 grand if you do it yourself, if you have it done triple that

Q: How much would it cost to fix a “rod knock” on a 1968 ford mustang?
the owner is selling it for 2900 and its just perfect except he says it has a rod knock
it is a newer 5.0 engine
all i need is an estimate

A: I would try to put it back to original. Try to find a 1968 block and get it rebuilt from there. If you typed in 1968 correctly and it has a good body, it will be well worth it. It will cost a lot, but if you’re scared of the cost I’ll buy it from you(depending on condition, of course).

Q: how do you take the window knob off of a 1968 ford mustang?
i am having troubles figuring out hot to take the knob for the window off so i can take the rest of the door apart.

A: fords usually have a screw in the center of the crank; however, there might be a set screw on the side of the crank opposite the hand knob

Q: I found a mint condition black 1968 ford mustang. With tan interior for 11000 no rust. Should i get it?
I think its a very good price for that car. Everything works fine ive seen a video of it the engine rebuilt has less than 5k miles and the transmission was rebuilt 2 months ago. This is my first car im 16!

A: as long as you can pay cash when you pick it up, don’t send any money for a car on the internet, it could be a scam..

Q: 1968 ford mustang coupe and 1969 plymouth satellite sport?
how much Horse power does a 68 mustang coupe (302)have?and
how much horse power does a 1969 plymouth satellite sport(318) have ?
WHICH car is overall better and why?

A: 1969 plymouth 318 2 barrel 230 horsepower with 9.2 compresion

Q: How much would a 1968 Ford Mustang Coupe go for?

A: What condition?

What model?

What engine?

Etc.

It could be anything from free, to $50,000+.

Q: Where can I find a 1968 Ford Mustang GT 390 for sale?
Yes, the one from Bullitt.
Looked but most are outrageously priced…

A: All 1st generation Mustangs are going to be very expensive, especially fastback models. Try looking in a publication that lists muscle cars for sale in your area. Also Mustang clubs and owners of classic Mustangs might know of somebody who has one for sale. I don’t want to ruin your dreams of owning a Bullitt Mustang, but all early V8 powered fastbacks are worth over $20,000 and that’s in less than perfect condition, so your not going to find one cheap.

Q: i have a 1968 ford mustang and i need to get in the trunk but don’t have a key to the trunk?
i need to get something out of the trunk but its locked and i dont have a key. does anyone have any ideas on getting the lock off or getting in the trunk through the cab.

A: You can get in by removing the back seat. With a long screwdriver, you can turn the trunk lock from the inside of the trunk. If a long enough screwdriver isn’t available, a screwdriver bit and long extension will work as will a piece of pipe with a screwdriver affixed to it.The trunk lock has a slot connecting the lock cylinder to the latch. This is what you want to turn from the inside of the trunk and through the back seat. Has to be a thin enough screwdriver to fit into this slot. Nothing will be damaged doing it this way.

A: craigslist or auto trader.you’ll find cars cheaper here than you will ever looking at online auctions.

Q: im looking to buy a used car for around 8k to 12k any advice?
wheres the best place to go (prefably in the northeast), maryland to canada. best sale times. how much will a dealer take off for paying in cash. anyone ever been to major world in new york it looks like they have good deals?

A: Not sure where to buy but look for a Toyota or Honda. They will last forever with little maintenance

Q: How can I safely buy a used car from a private seller who is still making payments & does not have the title?
Is there a way to handle the sale so I will be protected, and if so, what is it? I have always bought new cars from large, authorized dealerships so this is the first time I’ve planned to buy a car from a private seller. I prefer not to consult a lawyer for a matter like this, but I also want to make sure my interests are protected. If it makes any difference I live in Maryland & the seller lives 100 miles away in Delaware. The seller is the original owner and her auto loan is with Chrysler Financial since it was purchased at a Chrysler Dealership. (Note: I posted a similar question two days ago but now need to rephrase my question. I welcome any answers, even if you answered my similar question on August 6.)

A: It can be done, but it’s a little complicated, and it’s going to depend on the laws in the states you’re dealing with (Maryland and Delaware). So yes, that makes a BIG difference.

It’s not a simple transaction; you’re actually talking about doing two transactions: buying ther car in Delaware, and importing it into Maryland.

First, find out what it takes to import a car into Maryland. You’ll probably need a clear Delaware title, and proof of insurance. You may need other documentation. Don’t confuse the issue for the Maryland folks, tell them you will have a clear Delaware title. Then get it.

You need to make sure the loan is paid off before you can get a clear title; it might be necessary to close the deal at the finance company, so they can be sure to get their money. Another option, which might actually be a requirement, is to have the sale done through a local (Delaware) car dealer. They will charge a fee, of course, which could be anywhere from $25 to $1,000,or more.

In some states you will need a lawyer, in some states it has to be done through a Notary Public.

On the other hand, it might actually be very simple and painless. You need to pick up the phone and ask lots of questions, and I would start with the finance company.

Q: Is buying this car against the law? This is kind of long btw….?
About 6 months ago I purchased a used car from the side of the road from a man. When I went to the MVA to register it they said it was sold to me illegally because the dealer was from West VA, and I live in MD. I had no idea it was wrong. They filed a report, and I got to keep the car. I loved the car until someone rear ended me, and now it’s gone.
I saw another car for sale on a different road so I called the number on it. It was the SAME guy! I told him I didn’t want to do Business with him because of what happened. He said this car won’t cause me any trouble because its all Maryland, where as the other one was from West VA. HE promised me this theme IWould have no trouble. It’s a great car for a great price, and I really want to buy it. Assuming that he’s being honest, do you think it would work out? Do you have any advice? Thank you in advance.

A: Ever heard that old saying…. “Fool me once shame on you….. Fool me twice shame on me”?

Move on. There are MILLIONS of cars for sale, why buy from a curbstoner/con-man?????

Q: Title transferred and notarized out of state?
I am buying a new car (used 04) from a used car dealership in North Carolina and I am trading in my old one. The car is currently registered in Pennsylvania. However here is the problem. the car I am trading in is a car that is titled and registered to my aunt who lives in Maryland currently (pa drivers license though)

I am located in PA and she is in MD, the dealer is in NC. Basically i want to trade this car in to the dealer WITHOUT my aunt having to drive all the way down to NC because she isn’t going to.

Is it possible to get a notary in MD to notarize this title transfer if my aunt who owns the car signs the transfer and lists the buyers name and then the dealer signs it when I get down there?

OR I will have to have the car titled in my name with a temporary registration in MD with my aunt basically selling it to me. It isn’t “exempt” from the gifting tax because she is not over 65 however it says the minimum tax is 38.50. I guess we could say I am buying it off her for $640, the minimum amount and pay the 38 bucks in tax and 50 in other fees first. The dealer said I could sign a contract indicating I will get him the title.

However I would much rather go with option two. Do you think I could get a notary in MD to sign it as long as my aunt is there to sign over the sale? I don’t see how I couldn’t find one to do that, especially if they are a small notary service.

I need to know the best way to do this since I am picking up my new car on Thursday. Thank you!
Also, does the car have to be legally registered in PA at the time? Registration was up February but I didn’t want to spend $36 to get it registered (since i drive the car) when I knew I would be getting rid of it. I heard that it doesn’t have to be correct?

A: Not so good advice from Kelly or Bajakma..How does the dealership you are trading the vehicle in know you didn’t steal the car from your aunt?? How do they know you have her permission to trade the car? They don’t!! And if her name is not going to appear on any paperwork for your new car, any reputable dealership will NOT accept your aunt’s car as a trade! I suggest you get a notarized letter from your aunt with all the information about the vehicle…make, model, vin, color, doors etc. authorizing you or allowing you to use the car as a trade in for another car. It probably would help if she put the name of the dealership you will be trading it in at. Example: I, XXXXX, owner of a Year, make, model, VIN#XXXXXXX, am authorizing ( or allowing) my nephew,XXXXX to use the above referenced vehicle as a trade in to XXX(name of dealership.) Her notarized signature.

The vehicle does not need to be registered to sell it, but I am not sure how you are going to get it to NC without plates. But that is your decision.

Q: Driving Uninsured car blues + What happens at a preliminary inquiry?
I got a “must appear in court” ticket along with a notice to appear in court within 3 days for a preliminary hearing. What happens at a preliminary hearing.

I got a ticket for driving an uninsured vehicle. The car I was driving used to be mine but I sold it to someone and only have a bill of sale to prove that.I did take in the bill of sale to MVA (Maryland Vehicle Administration)to prove that I had sold the car and was no lnger responsible for the insurance.MVA accepted this and told me to pay a penalty for the month that I did own it.

The buyer, on the other hand, never went into mva to register the car and has been using it unregistered and uninsured.I recently got back possession of the car and was driving home when i was pulled over and got the must appear ticket.

Am I responsible for the whole time that the buyer did not have the car insured? That is, from 3/18/06 till jan08.

When i go to court what could I expect?

A: whenever the cars in your name, your responsible for the insurance. however if the title was signed over to him. he would be automaticaly responsible for insurance.

Q: i am going for a 10 hours amtrak, any advice?
after a trip to ohio, i am coming back to maryland. but the flight ticket was so expensive, i’d like to take an amtrak ~_~ 11hours!

any idea what should i prepare for such a long trip?
there would be food for sale on car? blanket?
please tell my laptop can be used. if not, i would be deadly boring ~_~ do i need a special tool or converter, outlet surge to plug in???

thanks in advance!!

A: The best thing to do on the train is catch up on sleep! I find it easy to fall asleep to the gentle rocking of the train. Usually it’s nice to have “forced free time” on the train. Books, crossword puzzles, they’re all good to have along. Writing can be difficult depending on how smooth the tracks are along your particular route.

A laptop is great to have along. Most cars I’ve been on in the last few years have electrical outlets in each row of seats, but in cars that have not been retrofitted, there may only be a plug-in every few rows of seats. Ask the car attendant/conductor for help in finding where one is available if you need it. I have also sometimes taken my laptop to the lounge car and charged my battery there while enjoying the scenery, then returning to my seat when the battery is recharged. You will not need any special converters or such, they are exactly the same outlets you find in any wall plug in (3 prongs).

If you’re going to watch a movies or listen to music on your laptop, you should bring earphones, for the sake of your neighbors (they may want to get caught up on sleep too).

There should be food for sale on board. There may not be a full meal service on the train (a cost cutting measure implemented in recent years), but there is at least a snack shop available in the lounge car which is open most of the time (closes during overnight hours). The snack shop food is not too great in my opinion. There is no rules against bringing your own food onboard. I would recommend bringing plenty of snacks so that you don’t have to rely on Amtrak’s food.

They may have blankets for sale on board. I bought one onboard long ago, but they may not do that anymore. I would recommend bringing your own just to be safe. The cars to seem do seem to be kept fairly cool for the most part so you will appreciate having it. Travel-sized pillows are provided during overnight hours (they have sanitary disposable covers on them). If you want one during the day, you’ll have to request it from a car attendant.

Q: Car export tax?
I wanted to buy a car today for my friend who lives outside U.S. The dealer said me that he does not know anything about car export. The dealer is in Virginia, and I live in Maryland. He said he’ll give me a 30 day temporary tag and issue a bill-of-sale.

Does anybody know if I can export the car with bill-of-sale and temporary tag within 30 days (without paying sales tax and registration fees to Maryland) ?

Or will I need to pay taxes and fees anyway (even if I am not going to use it here) ?

Thank you

A: ITS BEST IF YOU CONTACT YOUR LOCAL (DMV) DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES OFFICE, THEY WILL BE ABLE TO ANSWER ANY AND ALL OF YOUR QUESTIONS AND AT THE SAME TIME YOU WILL BE GETTING THE CORRECT ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION.

Q: Is the liberal media protecting Al Gores son, if he was the son of a Republican it would be on TV everyday?
Al Gore III faces felony drug charges
Former vice president has little to say today about son’s arrest.
City News Service

MISSION VIEJO – Former Vice President Al Gore’s son faced drug charges today in Orange County as his father faced the media while preparing for an international music festival to highlight global warming.

Al Gore III, 24, a Los Angeles resident, was driving a blue Toyota Prius south on the San Diego (5) Freeway about 2:15 a.m. yesterday when a sheriff’s deputy stopped him at the Crown Valley Parkway exit for speeding, said sheriff’s spokesman Jim Amormino.

The deputy smelled marijuana and searched the car, finding less than an ounce of pot, but also the prescription drugs Valium, Xanax, Vicodin, Soma and Adderall, which is used to treat attention deficit disorder.

The Harvard graduate said he did not have a prescription for the drugs and admitted smoking pot shortly before being stopped, Amormino said.

However, authorities did not book him on suspicion of DUI because they decided Gore was not “impaired” by the marijuana, he said.

He was arrested on suspicion of drug possession — and speeding — and booked into jail in Santa Ana on $20,000 bail. One of his sisters, reportedly Sarah, posted his bail and he was released about 2 p.m. yesterday.

Appearing on NBC’s “Today” show for a previously scheduled interview, the former vice president — who is one of the organizers of this weekend’s “Live Earth,” a 24-hour, seven-continent concert series to promote the battle against global warming — was asked about the arrest.

“Well, we’re dealing with it as a private family matter,” Gore said, “and we love him very much, and we’re glad that he’s safe, and that he’s getting treatment, and we’re going to leave it as a private matter.”

Possessing less than an ounce of pot is a misdemeanor, but illegal possession of prescription drugs is a felony.

Gore is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 1. Prosecutors have not decided whether to file felony charges against him, said Susan Schroeder of the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.

Orange County offers three drug diversion programs that allow people to undergo treatment instead of going to jail, but participants must meet certain qualifications, she said.

Among the qualifications for the “Drug Court” program operated by the Orange County Superior Court, a participant must have no record of violence, drug trafficking or possession of drugs for sale, said court spokeswoman Carole Levitzky.

It is aimed at people with a second or third offense, and there “has to be a willingness” to go through drug treatment programs, such as attend a 12-step program, she said.

“It’s hard — they get tested frequently,” Levitzky said.

Schroeder said the programs basically require participants to enter guilty pleas. Under a drug diversion program put in place by the Legislature, the defendant enters a guilty plea, but the plea is not entered as a judgment and it is never recorded if the person successfully completes a program.

Under the Proposition 36 program passed by voters, a person pleads guilty and is sentenced to treatment instead of jail, she said.

The son of the former vice president was charged with marijuana possession in Maryland in 2003 after police stopped the car he was driving for not having its headlights on. In February 2004 he entered a substance abuse program as part of a plea agreement.

Gore was ticketed for reckless driving by North Carolina police in August 2000 for allegedly driving 94 mph, and in September 2002, military police arrested him on suspicion of drunk driving near a military base in Virginia.

A: Consider moving to Russia, where there is no liberal bias in the media at all.

Q: Do I have to pay sales tax on a vehicle in Houston TX that I plan to resale?
I have recently purchased a 2005 Chevy 2500HD for $11,300 in the state of Maryland that I am waiting to have shipped down to Houston TX. I purchased the truck under the assumption that I was losing my company car. Recently I have found out that I get to keep my company car and have no use for the Chevy truck. NADA trade in on the truck is $19,300.00. I safely feel I can at least break even or mostly make a profit on the truck. I plan on receiving the truck in Houston and then immediately resale the vehicle. I will take it to Carmax if I have to. Is there a way to get around paying the 6.25% sales tax on purchased vehicles if I strictly resale the truck? i.e. – I do not title it in my name, or I obtain a resale certificate, or etc…???
THANKS!

A: I am not sure about in TX, but in my state you have to have a tax id in order to purchases things with the purpose of resale and not pay taxes on them. You would however have to pay sales take when you sold it if this is the case.

Hope this helps! Good luck!!

Q: Strange Sex Laws In the USA?
No man is allowed to make love to his wife with the smell of garlic, onions, or sardines on his breath in Alexandria, Minnesota. If his wife so requests, law mandates that he must brush his teeth.

Warn your hubby that after lovemaking in Ames, Iowa, he isn’t allowed to take more than three gulps of beer while lying in bed with you—or holding you in his arms.

Bozeman, Montana, has a law that bans all sexual activity between members of the opposite sex in the front yard of a home after sundown—if they’re nude.

In hotels in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, every room is required to have twin beds. The beds must always be a minimum of two feet apart when a couple rents a room for only one night. And it’s illegal to make love on the floor between the beds.

The owner of every hotel in Hastings, Nebraska, is required to provide each guest with a clean and pressed nightshirt. No couple, even if they are married, may sleep together in the nude, nor may they have sex unless they are wearing one of these clean, white cotton nightshirts.

An ordinance in Newcastle, Wyoming, specifically bans couples from having sex while standing inside a store’s walk-in meat freezer.

A state law in Illinois mandates that all bachelors should be called master, not mister, when addressed by their female counterparts.

In Norfolk, Virginia, a woman can’t go out without wearing a corset. (There was a civil-service job—for men only—called a corset inspector.)

In Merryville, Missouri, women are prohibited from wearing corsets because “the privilege of admiring the curvaceous, unencumbered body of a young woman should not be denied to the normal, red-blooded American male.”

It’s safe to make love while parked in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Police officers aren’t allowed to walk up and knock on the window. Any suspicious officer who thinks that sex is taking place must drive up from behind, honk his horn three times and wait approximately two minutes before getting out of his car to investigate.

A law in Helena, Montana, mandates that a woman can’t dance on a table in a saloon or bar unless she has on at least three pounds, two ounces of clothing.

Lovers in Liberty Comer, New Jersey, should avoid satisfying their lustful urges in a parked car. If the horn accidentally sounds while frolicking behind the wheel of a motor vehicle, the couple can face a jail term.

Women aren’t allowed to wear patent-leather shoes in Cleveland, Ohio—the thinking is that a man might see the reflection of something he shouldn’t.

Maryland prohibits the selling of condoms through vending machines in gas stations and stores—with one major exception. Prophylactics may be dispensed by a vending machine only “in places where alcoholic beverages are sold for consumption on the premises.”

In Texas, no one other than a “registered pharmacist” may sell condoms or other kinds of contraceptives “on the streets or other public places.” No, not even physicians. Anyone who tries to make a few extra bucks doing this will be severely prosecuted for the dire act of “unlawfully practicing medicine.”

Kentucky and Idaho limit condom sales to medical practitioners and licensed pharmacists, but their license to sell the items may not be hung on a wall where it can be seen by customers.

Maine licenses condom sellers and the license must always be on public display.

Nevada, with 35 legal bordellos, has no condom problem. The use of condoms in Nevada brothels is compulsory.

Both Indiana and Ohio have laws that prohibit male skating instructors from having sexual relations with their female students. This misdeed, called “the seduction of female students,” is prosecuted as a felony. This statute applies only to male teachers. It seems female skating instructors may have sex with male students.

A: in mount airy, north carolina males have to nut in their wives everytime they have sexual relations because they are trying to increase the population

Q: I have a 1971 camaro, that Im thinking of putting a 402 instead of a 454?
My ? about engine pkgs was, did the 402 orginally come in the 1971 Camaro Z28, my car is a clone, I still wanted it to be semi factory. Thank you to all of you who responded to my original question.

A: In ‘71 the camaro was alittle strange.
The only big block in the camaro was the 396, but that “396″ V-8 actually displaced 402 cid.

Here’s the list of all engines for the ‘71 camaro
250 6 cyl
307 SBC
Three 350 SBC engines.. 245 HP, 270 HP and 330 HP
396 BBC

Q: Will it be worth to trade my 1978 Chevy Camaro for a 1971 ford mustang coupe?
my 1971 camaro has interior is done but the outside is not painted, doors and windows don’t work, dash is kind of mess up but runs great. The owner of the 1971 mustang is willing to do the interior before trading, door windows and dash are in place but car doesn’t start. is it worth it???? and also what is each car worth when fixed up????

A: That is a personal choice. I suggest sitting on the idea after you have gone through all the pros and cons what works, what doesn’t and what work would need to be done on both vehicles. After that, you can decide which one will be more beneficial to YOU as the owner.

Hope this Helps, Good Luck!

Q: How many miles per gallon does a 1971 Camaro Z28 big block get?
I have a 1968 Pontiac Tempest and I’m thinking about get this Camaro. I’m wondering which one gets better gas milage.

A: should get about 19mpg if carb is not massive such as a holly 750… if quadrajet 2bbl 21mpg 4bbl 10mpg if heavy on accelorater…. have fun, i had a Z-28 great car, had to get rid of it to keep my license… raw power

Q: How do I get the door off of a 1971 camaro?
The passenger side door is stuck closed… inner and outer handles dont work… all the mechanisms seem to be working including the lock… but does not pop open… just need to get the door off… is there any way to do so without calling a locksmith???
The passenger side door is stuck closed… inner and outer handles dont work… all the mechanisms seem to be working including the lock… but does not pop open… just need to get the door off… is there any way to do so without calling a locksmith???

A: As a locksmith, I would suggest calling a locksmith so you don’t break anything or cause more damage. You can wedge the door out from the window, you can grab the door handle rod and move it forward with the help of different tools. You can also try to manipulate the door lock mechanism. If all else fails, please call a locksmith.

Q: Where can i find a 1971 z28 camaro?
Im looking for a 1971 z28 camaro, that is race ready, except it needs to only be a rolling chassis.
i have a powerglide transmission, and a chevy 383 stroker, and both are race ready.all i need is a camaro that needs a transmission and an engine, and RACE READY!!!!!
please tell me where i can find one

A: there is a place that deals in nothing but camaro’s and firebirds

he has lots of cars for sale
called
david t’s .com
don

Q: Where can i get a 1971 camaro for 7k?
I want one that runs strong and would be a good everyday driver for high school. There can be some small dents and i will repaint it

A: well what model of Camaro Base,RS,Z28,SS i assume since you want a strong car you mean you want a (V8 Camaro) well you can get a
(350ci V8) in any one of of those modles i mentioned up above for the 1970 year as long as in only has minor dents paint chips scratches etc right well bro you can look on ebay, craigslist classifieds in newpapsers, car magazines such as autotrader and others heck bro you can even look in a junkyard and find a nearly undamaged body if your lucky and all it needs is work but will start up well for 7-GRAND you say is what you got to spend you could just get a fixer uper and make cherry with 7-GRAND the best thing to do is google it bro i can pretty much guarantee you you will find a 1977 Camaro in excellent, decent or a shell on ebay

Q: 1971 camaro engine enhancment?
so i have a 1971 chevy camaro. im looking to enhance the engine. right now its got about 375 horse with an original all stock engine. i wana get it up as high as i can without spending a fortune.

A: what is a fortune in dollars? Without a dollar amount, i dont know how far you need to go as far as swapping internal parts or punching out the cylinders or pistons and heads and so on. Edelbrock makes a top end kit that would include cam, lifters, aluminum heads, intake and carb to match your engine and give you a hp increase of at least 60 -100hp more. Around $2000 would cover the money in parts and you save on labor if you do it yourself. This is a nice weekend job or maybe just a whole day depending on what engine you have.

good luck………

Q: Will a 1971 Camaro rear end fit a 1972 Chevelle?
Before i get a 71′ Camaro rear end I wanna know if it will fit my 72′ Chevelle Malibu. Both are automatic

A: It’s not a bolt-in fit. The Camaro uses leaf springs and the Chevelle has coil springs.
Look for a ‘68 to ‘72 Le Mans, Monte Carlo, Skylark, Cutlass, or El Camino rear end.

Q: Can someone tell me if this hood would fit a 1971 Camaro RS?
http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/pts/907731135.html

Its listed as :
CAMARO Z28 1978 1979 HOOD TEAR DROP STYLE

Im not sure if it would fit but it looks close and it would look nice on my car if it would

A: I’m not sure either. I know it says specific years, but with car parts, most pieces from a generation fit each other. I know your car is a 2nd generation camaro, and so is that hood. Although I don’t know much about those cars, I would bet that it would fit your car if no front end modifications were made between your year and that hoods years. Also, you may want to look at minor things between the years like hood latch movement, mounting spots, etc that would deal with the hood.

Q: What is better a1969 covertable camaro or a 1971 elcamino?

A: Depends on a lot of things, mostly personal preference. I can try to help you out, though. Check whichever applies to you on the following personality profile:

Hairstyle-
a) Mullet – El Camino
b) Anything else – Camaro

House-
a) Trailer – El Camino
b) Anything else – Camaro

Job-
a) None – El Camino
b) Regular paying job – Camaro

Name -
a) 2 first names (Billy Bob, Joe Bob, Billy Ray, etc) -
El Camino
b) Regular single first name – Camaro

Favorite beer-
a) Pabst, Hamms, No Name – El Camino
b) Coors, Heinekin, Bud – Camaro
c) French wine – Volvo, BMW, Honda hybrid

Q: how much would a 1971 camaro cost?
my mom had one, my cusin has a 1969 and cadilack eascalade 2009, and i can probabaly get one when im 16, if anyone is wondering, i like the clasics, new ones are nothing.

A: the new 2009 camaro is pretty awsome dude,theres a 71 z28 on ebay for 10,372.00

Q: what are the engine types in a 1971 Camaro?

A: well according to GM it was 250, 262, 307, 327, 350, 396 were the standard RPO engines of 71′

Q: 1971 camaro ls-1 converting?
wanting to know what i could take from a 2000 z28 and use with my 308 rear end.The car is a 6speed 5.7L.,would like to convert day time running lights is it possible and do i need the radiator.I own a 1971 camaro 5.7L 400 trans posi 3.08

A: You can use alot of parts off the 2000 z28 if you don’t mind custom fab work.

Of course you know the engine, transmission, computer, engine bay wiring.

You can also swap in the front seats wth out too much work, rear seats with more fab work.

I seen a few second gens with 4th gen dashs and gauges

The running lights can be used, the rad should swap in with alittle work

The center consol can be made to fit.

Head over to www.nastyz28.com and look on the message boards there. Its an all second gen camaro site with great members

Q: Would you rather own a 1971 Dodge Dart Demon or a 1971 Chevrolet Z28 Camaro?
With a standard production engine of 340 c.i.d. for the Dodge and 350 c.i.d. for the Chevrolet.

A: The “DEMON” without a doubt. The demon is much lighter therefore the 290 Horsepower that the 340 engine makes has less weight to move and the “DEMON” will be quicker and faster.Plus the body lines on the “DEMON” are timeless.

Q: I want to buy a classic muscle car. Either a 1971 camaro or a Mustang from that era. Which would u recommend?

A: I would definately go with the Mustang…not only is it a better ride, but the resale value if you trick it out (while maintaining its originality) is far higher than that of a Camaro.

Q: do you know where I can find a Honda Prelude for sale?
I want one with not alot of miles and not too expencive. I can’t find one anywere the one that I did find has already been sold!!!

A: Check out http://www.autotrader.com for lots of car listings. I sold my last car on that site!

Q: does anyone have a 1997 or newer honda prelude for sale that is in good condition?

A: maybe ebay or craigslist would be a better place to look

Q: Does anyone have a 1997-2001 honda prelude for sale? I live in virginia, DC area?
Please state year, price range and milage, just gimmie a basic idea of each

A: If you are interested in buying a car, but feel as though you simply do not have the money, a government car auction might be the best opportunity for you. You can find incredible deals, and it is not uncommon for people to save thousands of dollars. whether you’re in the market for a new automobile or not.

You’ll find that, at a government seized auto auction, there is a huge variety of automobiles available for you to bid on. The majority of vehicles at a government car auction have been repossessed from criminals or people who have failed to make payments on government loans. There are also government car auction vehicles that are “retired” police cruisers or other government vehicles that are no longer in service. You can usually find a wide range of makes and models,

Not many people know about government seized auto auctions, so there will not be a lot of competition for vehicles that you’re bidding on. There are so many different vehicles to choose from, you’re bound to find one that will become someone’s next dream car. Whether you want to buy a car to re-sell, or you’re looking for a car for yourself or a child, a government seized auto auction is the best place to look for an affordable used vehicle. Why waste time with a double-talking car dealer when you can go to a government seized auto auction, where you can buy a car 90% off Retail Value?

OK,You can check out http://www.purchaseusedcar.info/index.php?t=purused ,this site lists top 5 goverment car online auction sites for you to choose,It really is that easy.

Q: What would be faster? A Prelude or and H22 in a Honda Accord?
I saw a prelude for sale and i also contemplated about dropping a H22 in my accord. I really like my accord but preludes just look cool.

A: accord v6 > 5spd prelude. from a dig the accord will get smoked but from a roll the v6’s have power. And if you swap a 6spd into an accord v6 it’s not even a contest
example
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsxOQbj7MVc
prelude is more modded than the accord

-and take into mind that this video is old. the mods that were on the cars during the video are in the comments

*in the end though, it all depends on how you mod either car and how much $ you’re willing to spend

Q: Where could I find honda prelude door handles for sale besides Ebay?
I’m having a hard time finding them online. They sell door handles for Civics and Accords and CRX but not Preludes. Any help would be very appreciated! Thanks!

A: Try Craigslist.org, or go to honda.com and look under their parts search. It should take you to the nearest place that sells em.

Q: Does anyone have a 96 and up Honda Prelude for sale for $1000 and lives in Norcross, Ga?
if its not too much trouble i want the VTEC version

A: HAHA, that is funny, maybe a wreck with no engine for a grand. 96 + prelude will run 6K and up

Q: does anyone have a 1997 prelude for sale, under 4500.00?

A: Look in www.autotrader.com but to pay 4500 por a ten year old car is a lot.

Q: 90 honda prelude for sale?
do you think its worth buying for $500- it has 202,000 miles

A: the mileage isnt an issue, test drive it, listen for a clicking or clunking noise from the front wheels, if you hear that noise its probably a bad cv axle ($200-$400) for repairs. Ask when the timing belt was changed. If they dont know when you’ll want to replace that before too long ($700) to replaced, although if it breaks not only will you be stranded but the engine will more than likely be shot after that, check the tread on the tires, is the exhaust loud, how bad is the rust on the rear fenders (common spot for rust on honda) and does the engine sound smooth or does it run rough or make a ticking noise. it could be a deal, but it could also be a nightmare if it has a lot of problems

Q: Red 1992 Honda Prelude Si For Sale – any Offer?
i have a red 1992 honda prelude si for sale. I’m in Dallas Texas area. if you would like more info please leave your email and i’ll send you photos of it. wifey want’s the SUV !!.
It comes with 4 18 inch nichi rims and tires. i’ll also give four 17 inch factory aluminum wheels and tires. also have high performance intake, but i took it off, wifey said it’s too loud! that also comes with a car. there’s more to list so leave your email and i’ll reply with infos and photos. thank you.

A: $500.00
Going once, twice, SOLD!! to the gentleman with the e-mail bliden@yahoo.com…

Well its worth a shot.

Q: 89 Honda Prelude Si For Sale?
It’s a 89 Prelude Si runs perfect. It is an automatic though. It has new distriputer cap, rotor button, plug wires, spark plugs. New inner and outer tyrods, all it needs is a powerstering pump because the old one leaks. I live in Kentucky and I am asking $1,000 for it and it is well worth it, if it was 5-speed I woudn’t even get rid of it. It has a set of 16″ trystar wheels on it and a flowmaster muffler. If you are interested send me a message.

A: This was my first car and I bought it for $1200 from a friend. I drove it until 243K (it had 120K when I bought it) and a lady rear ended me and totaled it. I loved that car. I would keep it man. If it’s my old one, definitely keep it! I put more wax inside that thing than a gay strip-club. Same exhaust that was annoying. Mine was carborated…horrible. But, I got $3600 from the insurance when they totaled it though….

Best deal ever!

Q: Does anyone, in the Dallas area, have a 1997 -2001 Honda Prelude with automatic transmission for sale?
Possibly leather interior, but not mandatory.
I’ll give 10 points to whoever gives me a good lead.

A: Try the auto sites like Yahoo autos

Q: 17 inch rims for 97 prelude?
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY 17″ RIMS FOR A 97 PRELUDE FOR SALE?

A: i dont and why do you want to get rims. trust me its a waist of money save your money or better yet buy some stocks and in 6 months it will be worth more

Q: any used honda preludes for sale near south carolina??
i’ve been searching the internet and found a bunch actually but we’re looking for somebody that would be willing to let us make payments with them on it. if you know of any listings where the seller would be willing to please let me know!! thanks!

A: . Private people on the Internet won’t do that. Unless the car is stolen or has flood-damage, whatever.
Any Ford or Chevy car lot would love to get rid of their Hondas.
You got problems with Credit?

Q: 1995 honda prelude swapp motor..?
hello, i have a question. theres this 95 prelude for sale around my town, and the motor have been swapp to an H22. the original motor was an H23 and i was wondering if that is legit and ok for it to do so. i dont want to go to the DMV and or pulled over and they say that its not right or give me any problems with it. so therefore my question is. do the owner have to report to the dmv for swaping a motor to another one?.

and another thing. i want ppl’s oppionion about a 1995 prelude, really clean, fresh black paint, dropped on coils, and with i beilve gt3 rims. with a “fresh” H22 motor i believe its been rebuild. 100 miles on it barely. (im not sure if i can trust what the owner of the car say about wat i just described). but yeah. it looks very clean. idk if i should buy it or not. due to the swap motor. it has AC and PS as well.

A: I live and die by this motto: Never buy a modified car, it’s nothing but trouble waiting. If a car has been modified, especially with an engine swap like this one, there’s a good bet that the car has been driven extremely hard, probably raced and abused. That means there could be an ungodly number of problems waiting to pop out just around the corner. So, unless you just like a challenge, and want a project to work on, I would avoid this one and if you want an H22A Prelude, build it yourself. Then, the only person you can blame for the work, is yourself (or whoever you pay to do it).

Q: Why does the resale value on a Honda go down slowly???
For example I see a 1992 Honda Prelude for sale it’s worth $4,332 but it has 121,000 miles!

I see Hondas with over 135k miles and are at least 13 years old and are worth over $2,000! Why is that? do they last at least 200k miles or something?

Don’t you think it’s a little pricey?

A: Hondas do have a reputation for going 300k+ with no major repairs(maybe a trans, and a little bit of oil burning)

as long as they are properly maintained and not abused, they will last quite a while

Not only that, they are the best quality import made in the late 80’s through the 90’s and even now

The timing belt should be replaced every 90k, not 200k as stated above

Lookin for a cj7 for sale? Find more auto classifieds and Cars for sale at LemonFree.com

Q: What is the difference between a Jeep CJ7 and a Jeep Wrangler?
I am looking for a used Jeep Wrangler and my dad’s friend says he as a Jeep CJ7 for sale. I looked online and the CJ7 looks exactly like a Wrangler to me. Is there a difference or is it the same thing or what? Please help.

A: cj/7 s are older , there are alot of things that make them different, l;ike the size of them , where the turn lights are, the boxyness of the body, im not sure but i dont think they ever put fuel injection on the cj’s but dont qoute me on that, the tailgates are different, im trying to put a cj/7 tailgate on my yj, up until 97 the wrangler had square headlights, just alot of stuff like that, go with a wrangler, unless you arent to picky about the ride comfort. everyone knows jeeps arent the most comfortable ride but the cj’s are alot worse then the wrangler.

Q: How do I install the side windows of my CJ7 hard top?
When removing the hard top of my 84 CJ7 one of the side windows poped out of it. I attempted to put it back in myself but I can’t seem to get it. Is there a special tool, or do I need to seek professional help?

A: Remove the rubber seal from the top.Put it on the glass.Put 1/4″ rope into the groove for the body, over lap both ends afew inches & tape them to the inside of the glass. Have a buddy hold the glass firmly in place from the outside. Pull the rope slowly from inside. =^ )

Q: What is a reasonable price for a 1986 Jeep CJ7?
Trying to sell my 1986 Jeep CJ7. It has at least 210,000 miles on it. It has a manual transmission, near everything is original. It’s in fair condition. No big rust problems, it runs well at the moment. What would be an accurate price?

A: $500

Q: Where can i find a cheap exhaust system with no pollution control concerns for my CJ7?
I live in Maryland and my 1983 CJ7 6cyl 258 is tagged as Historic so i have no concerns about inspections or pollutioon control. I need a new exhaust from headers back but i dont need catalytic converter or even a full muffler. What are my options for a cheap exhaust.

A: Junk yard

Q: Any creative ideas for installing surround sound in a 1984 Jeep CJ7?
My jeep has a stereo but no speakers anywhere. There are a few places for speakers in the dash, but has anyone out there ever installed an entire system in their Jeep Cj7 that isn’t just in the front dash? Any creative ideas as to where speakers could be installed in the back etc…..

A: There are all kinds of speaker boxes for jeeps, overhead roll bar mounting, big ones behind the seat with another smaller speaker that wraps around, above the wheel well toolboxes with places for speakers, ones that go on the floor in front of the shift knobs, and of course you can put them in the dash, you can find all this stuff on any jeep website, 4wd.com has a lot of stuff

Q: Where should I go in So. Cal to get my Jeep CJ7 engine replaced?
I have a 1984 Jeep CJ7 with a 258, inline 6 cylinder engine. I have had engine trouble for a while and am ready to replace or rebuild it. I would assume do it myself, but I don’t have the time, the space, or the tools to do it (I live in an apartment). Where can I go to get this work done around the Chino area of Southern California?

A: This place is closer too you than S.D county. They are called O&R 4 Wheel Drive Center. They are located in Bloomington. 909 877-5045. 25 yrs in the Jeep bizz. They know Jeeps better than Jeep. What they will do is pull the engine send it out to Orange Engines in Anehiem. Then re-install it with new belts, H20 pump & hoses. For my 1991 YJ it will cost me $3400 total. That is encluding a hotter cam, longer exhaust valves & balancing.

Or you can call Orange Engine 714-635-4030 (building engines for 35 yrs) and ask them who by you do they work with. My 4.0 rebuild w/o installation would be just over 2K.

I had a cheaper rebuild done (1700 total) and regreted it!
A rebuilt Jeep is cheaper than a new one….good luck!

FYI:
If you have a stick…..have the clutch replaced. I really like Centerforce.
If it is an auto then change the torque converter. BIG DIFF with a fresh torque converter!

Q: Are the fenders on a 1985 Jeep CJ7 interchangeable with the fenders on a 1977 Jeep CJ5?
I’m looking to replace the fenders on my 1977 CJ5 and I know someone with fenders from a 1985 CJ7.. Are those fenders interchangeable?

A: A 1972 – 1986 CJ fender are same on CJ-5,CJ-7,CJ-8.

Q: how much money do you think it is going to take to restore a 1976 jeep cj7 v8?
it is not in a very bad condtion. and what was the orginal axle that came with a 1976 cj7?

A: The amount of money you spend on it depends on what you plan on doing to it. If its going to be original or modifications, the price will differ. That’s some research you will have to do on your own, you could go anywhere from a couple hundred to a couple thousand depending on your needs. Some parts are cheaper online, some are better at a junk yard. The axle for your Jeep would more than likely be a Dana 30 (front) and a Dana 35 or Dana 44 (rear) with 3.73 gears, Just do some research for what you need.

Q: In what year did Jeep start putting Fiberglass Hard Tops on the CJ5 and CJ7?
I would like specifically to know what years for both the CJ5 model and CJ7 model. I imagine both received the fiberglass tops in the same model year but just a guess. If you know please share…

A: As far as I know the CJ7 came out of the factory, 1976, with both hard (fiberglass) and soft top.
I just don’t recall ever seing a CJ5 with a fiberglass hard top, must I can remember had the metal hard top or the soft top.

Q: what manual trans will fit in an 84 CJ7?
looking at an 84 CJ7 with unknown trans problem. If I have to replace it, what years and models are interchangeable? I dont know if it’s a four or five speed.
what I meant was, what will be a direct fit, what years and models.

A: Almost any. Advance Adapters has kits to fit trannies to different engines. TH350 is popular though. Sorry, didn’t notice MANUAL, there’s a lot of choices though.

Q: 84 CJ7 6 Cyl. Everytime i try and start the motor, the ignition fuse blows?
84 CJ7 6 Cyl. Everytime i try and start the motor, the ignition fuse blows

A: Check the wire running to the starter solenoid, it could be grounded somewhere, or the starter solenoid could be fried. Try starting it with the ignition on and using a jumper between the battery positive and the solenoid terminal on the starter.

Q: How would I go about finding the particular model information for a recently purchased CJ7?
Just bought the Jeep I’ve always wanted and am interested in restoring it. How would I find out what the particular model was and what options were included on it back when it was first purchased?

A: first of all good choice on choosing to restore a jeep!!

i would say get a hanyes manual that will tel you pretty much everything about the truck
check out some fourms
i reccomend www.gl4×4.com but there are alot of others out there that are good but you can post up any question and someone is shure to try to help

good luck and have fun with it

Q: how do i find out what rear end i have in my 1985 jeep cj7?
how do i figure out what kind of rear end, front end, and transfer case are in my 1985 jeep cj7?

A: Try the JeepTech links below. If that doesn’t work, try the other links and match the bolt pattern to the ones on your Jeep.

Happy Trails!

Q: I have a 83 cj7 and need to replace the seals in the transfer case?
Anyone have the correct procedure for this. It’s the Dana 300 and need to replace the seals.

A: The best thing you can do is buy a jeep manual (haynes or Chiltons) and follow them to the T

Q: It has been two years since I last started my ‘84 Jeep CJ7. What do I need to do before I try to start it?
I have had it in storage for about two years, and I’m sure that there are steps I need to take before I just try to crank the engine. The gas tank does have fuel in it.

It’s a 258 inline 6.

A: If you did not use a gas preservative I would suggest checking the level in the tank. If it is 1/4 full or less you might get away with filling the tank the rest of the way with new fuel to mix with the old stuff. The real problem might be the carb. Old fuel may have condensed and turned to jelly, plugging up all the internal passages and jets.

If I were you, I would change the oil in the engine first. Put a freshly charged battery in the Jeep and without touching the gas pedal, turn the engine over to get the oil circulating through all the bearing and in the passages. Probably twice at 60 seconds each will be enough. This will also pump gas into the carb bowl. I would remove the air cleaner and check the carb to make sure that the accelerator cable is free and would also shoot WD40 or carb cleaner onto all the moving parts. Get a flashlight and look down the carb throat and then work the accelerator by hand, do you see any fuel coming into the throat? If so then I would try to start it and see if it will run. You may have to pump it a couple of times.

If it starts I would run the tank low, by some Techron carb cleaner from local WalMart store and fill the tank again.

If the gas does not squirt into the carb throat the Jeep will not start because the carb is plugged up and needs to be taken apart and completely cleaned out.
