Q: 1962 Ford Falcon Air Cleaner?
Hello. I have a 1962 Falcon, and as I was in a local auto store, I thought it would look better to put in a new air cleaner kit to replace my old dull and ugly stock one. I’m going to keep the old one but have the new one in. However I wanted to make sure that this won’t affect my engine Performance. I have a 170 ci straight 6 ford engine. The Air cleaner kit i’d like to put on is an Edelbrock Universal Kit. I’d also like to know if there is a certain size I should put on. They have a 14 Inch , but should i get that that one or the size smaller. Please help. thanks. rob.
A: Measure the diameter of the carburetor intake opening, and buy one that is has the same diameter on bottom opening, or can be adapted to fit it.

Q: 1962 Ford Falcon Fuse Panel.?
Hello, I’m currently looking to install a new device in my car called the “Redi-rad” however this requires me to ad two pieces to the fuse panel. My question is where exactly in the dash the fuse panel for a 1962 ford falcon 4 door sedan is located. Or if is somewhere else. I took a quick glance the other day and it was blatantly obvious. Thanks in advanced. Rob.
A: headlight switch is plugged to the fuse panel, I own a 63, look under dash at headlight switch
Q: 1962 ford falcon, positive or negative ground?
Hello, i own a 1962 ford falcon 4 door sedan with a 170 ci engine. I need to know for the purpose of buying some parts if my falcon is a positive or negative ground vehicle. if you could tell me i’d greatly appreciate it, also if you have an explanation of why that’d be great too. THANKS! rob
Well i know it sounds like a stupid question. I’m gonna be buying this called a redirad. and before i spend 129 bucks on it , it asks me if i have a postive or negative ground vehicle. i’ll leave the link on the bottom of this. so your all sure its negative ground?

A: 62 american ford falcon is a 12 volt neg ground system
ground.cable goes from neg. post to engine block with a smaller wire going to body ground. the positive battery cable will go from post to starter solenoid mounted on inner fender and another cable will go from other side of solenoid to the starter motor.
this car was equipped with a 35 or 40 amp D.C. generator. if this or the voltage regulator has to be replaced and original equipment style regulator is used they will have to be polarized [the regulator fitting instructions will include this information] note electronic regulators are available[these are generally universal in nature with connections set up for either positive ground or negetive ground systems] these should not be polarized as these will be ruined instantly.
follow the regulators manufactures instructions to the letter and you will be just fine.
Q: 1962 Ford Falcon Muffler?
Hello again yahoo answers world. Today I bug you with yet another question about my 1962 ford falcon. I am going to be replacing the entire exhaust system for my car. I’m ordering the system from a catalog i use very often, Mac’s auto parts. However i’d like to order the muffler separately. My falcon is a 4 door sedan, with a 170 cubic inch, straight 6 engine. I would like to know which muffler would give it a nice clean sound, with a little bit of bite, and what kind to get, what brand, all that. Thanks! Rob
A: Get a Cherry Bomb..
Q: Will This Gas Cap Fit my 1962 Ford Falcon?
Hello. I have a 1962 Ford Falcon, and on this falcon I have an after market gas cap on there that I absolutly hate. Its hard to use and is ugly. I wish to replace this gas cap, and I since I don’t like any of the caps that could have originally come on my car, I looked elsewhere. I went on Moon Eyes.com and found a gas cap I really like, however I’m not sure if this would fit my car. Below I have the link to the Gas cap. could you tell me if this fits my 1962 Ford Falcon 4 Door Sedan Deluxe?

Thanks and I look forward to your answers! Rob
A: No, I don’t think so, it’s for their tanks and is threaded..
try looking on http://motors.ebay.com
Here’s 3, but keep watching, the listings change every day..

I like the original Ford locking cap..
you might even find a universal at the local parts store, like Pepboys or Autozone..
Q: Will a 429 fit in a 1962 Ford Falcon or should I just go with a 302?
I’m building a 1962 Ford Falcon. I want to get to 500 streetable horsepower. Gas mileage isn’t an issue as I’m just building a cruiser that I’ll take out on Friday and Saturday nights and go to the strip every so often. I may drive it to work every once in a while but not daily. Now back to my issue. My buddy has a 429 that he said he’d sell me cheap if I want it. I know that is a great motor and I would have no problem getting to 500 horses. The problem is that I don’t know if it would fit. I don’t really want to have to mess with chopping up the engine compartment to fit the 429. I did that to fit a 460 into a 74′ Maverick and it’s not fun. There is a 302 that is sitting in the garage at my dad’s house that I’m pretty sure would fit with no problem. But how much am I going to have to spend to get a 302 to 500h.p.? Thanks for taking the time to answer my question!
A: 429 will not work without removing the shock towers and installing rack and pinion steering, but a351w will, thats what I am putting in the 65 falcon that I am building now.
Q: 1962 ford falcon did they make a hardtop car?
A: yes they did–it came in two or four door hard top
Q: some who one who know alot about fitting engines in cars( 1962 ford falcon)?
i want to put like a 302 or some sort of small block in my ford falcon. what is a good manual four speed transmission that would work well. what do i do about engine mounts. where could i get a new rear end and what would be a good one. what kind of u joint do i need . how much would it cost a shop to drop it in.
A: Halfway through the model year (February 1963), a 164 hp 260 CID (4.3 L) V8 engine was offered for the first time. This engine is the same as the 302 and the 62 body is the same so everything will fit, just match up either a 5 bolt engine or 6 bolt bell housing,(changed in 64) from the small Ford lines, through the 60’s..
Do some reading on the Ford Forums to gather more information.

Q: 1962 Ford Falcon generator problem?
The Idiot light glows very faintly only on acceleration, with the lights on. Otherwise it is fine. The car battery has not died, but I havent travelled far at night. The generator puts out 13.7 volts at idle. Is this the cut out relay or the generator. Both are pretty old.
A: More than likely, if everything is original, you need to adjust the voltage regulator. The older classics had adjustable regulators with contact points that get dirty and an air gap adjustment.
You may have buildup on the contacts, you may have buildup on the generator brushes.
The light will also glow with an overcharge problem. Or with a problem with the dash resistor wiring.
Best you can do is check it with a DVOM to find out what it is actually doing. From the battery, generator, regulator, “idiot” light, resistor, etc.
Q: someone who knows a lot about classic cars(1962 Ford Falcon)?
So i have a ford falcon in my back yard and i got the engine to run great i need just a couple more things before i am ready to go one thing is i cant get it to change gears correctly on the column shifter i have rebuilt the shifter linkage several times. One seal is already bad it leaks transmission fluid. i am thinking about getting a four speed floor transmission. I don t really know any thing about which one to choose and which one will have the right spline count etc. i am on a budget i found a 4 speed that went to a fast back mustang not sure what year pretty cheap. any help or info you could really help me out!
A: this is a can of worms, what engine, 6 or 8? they take totally different trannys, plus Mustang trannys don’t fit in Falcons, they are 2 long and the shifters are on different sides.. ever hear of a Dagenham transmission, it’s for the six’s and impossible to get parts for..
Q: value of 1962 ford falcon 2 door coupe?

A: They make a blue book that will give you a price of its worth… try www.kbb.com
Q: will a front windshield from a 1960,1961,1962,1963 ford falcon fit in a 1960 falcon ranchero.?
A: I’m not sure on this, but I think it may. That’s been a long time ago. Ask a glass company or a salvage yard, they have charts on what parts fit what years.
Q: 62 falcon with ford o matic what other type of tranny can i fit in their?
I have a 1962 ford falcon with a ford o matic tranns with a staight 6 170 cid engine.i want to change the tranny but i dont want to do alot of modification
A: look for a maverick or mustang from 69-73 with the 250 engine and tranny, you’ll need both and some fabing
Nothing fits that bellhousing except another early 170, you’ll have to find one from another Falcon or Comet, that Mustang is to long. and only 3 bolts line up
Have you tried manually shifting it to see what it will do? start in low, shift and right back to low, run it out and then shift to drive. That’s what I have to do with my English Borgwarner in a Sunbeam. I call it my hidden 3 speed
