Q: 1965 Mustang?
We are getting my son a 1965 Mustang that he wants to fix up. His fixing up and my fixing are two different things. He wants to “pimp” it out. Is there a website or program that will allow him to look at different options, such as paint, wheels, etc and change around with colors and such to decide before he actually has it done?

A: a 65 mustang is a classic why does he want to ruin it

Q: 1965 mustang??
i have been looking for a cheap 65 mustang. will settle for a project. please help

A: Believe it or not, alot of projects and restored cars are sold on eBay motors. I would check that out, because alot of times they dont put reserves on the cars and you can get one for reaaaaaallly cheap. In fact, I bought a 72 Camaro SS the other day off eBay and i was really satisfied.

If not, try another car site, like mautofied.com.

Hope that helps! Good Luck!

Q: What is the best reference resource for restoring a 1965 Mustang?
What is the best reference resource for restoring a 1965 Mustang? I am interested in books, manuals, websites, anything! I have never restore a classic car before, but I am very mechanically inclined. Thanks for the help!

Q: what is the gas mileage for a 1965 mustang?
for my 16th birthday my dream has been a red convertible 1965 mustang. i think i will be able to save up enough to buy one but i don’t know if i can handle gas. does anyone know how many miles per gallon a 65′ mustang gets?

A: I wish you were my daughter.

I bought a 1965 convertible, 289 engine, white, all original when my daughter was born in 1979.

I bought it for her when she turned 16. I figured that would be enough time to restore it clean.

She never liked the car, she looked at it and wanted to know when I was going to get rid of it.

I sold it in 2003 to a friend for $5,000.

The 289 engine got (good tune up) up to 17 MPG on the hwy.
in town, it got somewhere around 14MPG.

Moral of story —- Save your money, buy it, take care of it, and drive carefully. Remember it is a classic.

Q: What is the best way to sell a 1965 Mustang that is not in running condition? Or would it b better to restore
A family member died and had a 1965 Mustang. It is in really poor condition and I was about to sell it but was wondering if anyone has restored one. Would it cost me more to restore it than it would be worth? I thought that the original Mustang would be valuable even if not in good condition but I think that may be incorrect. Help please.

A: yeah restoring is only worth it if you can do everything yourself. If not try selling it on craiglist.com or your local newspaper

Q: My favorite cars have been the 1965 Mustang and the Shelby Mustang?
I don’t think I have a prayer with the Shelby Mustang, but it’s good to dream right? How much would it cost to rebuild a 1965 Mustang and make it a convertable? Just curious

Karl
Jet,

I’m just asking, I didn’t know all of those things. Where would you recommend getting the frame for starters?

A: If your 1965 has a lot of rust and would need good metal work done then you could just leave the top off and make a restomod of it. Mustangs Plus has a retractable hardtop you could make out of it also. If you like Shelbys then make a clone of one. 1965 make good Shelby clones.

A: The 1965 did not come with a V6.
With this tidbit of misinformation, you need to study your mustang lore and be more familiar with it.
You really NEED to join a local Mustang club so they can teach you, young apprentice.
Do you have a 4-lug or 5-lug wheel?
Do you have an automatic or stick?
You need to seek out and answer these simple questions for they will lead to the beginning to your long journey.

Q: Where is the timing mark on the Harmonic Balancer of a 1965 Mustang 289?

A: hello,…. try to locate a line on the HB , it will look li8ke a plain line clean the balancer real good, when and if you find it take some white paint and mark it. All cars have them but sometimes they get filled with dirt and grease. It’s there just keep looking . email me if you need more help.

Q: What is the best engine oil additive to use for a 1972 Chevelle SS? or a 1965 Mustang?
What is the best engine oil additive to use for a 1972 Chevelle SS? or a 1965 Mustang? I know older engines require more lubrication and I was looking for advice on what additives to use in my vehicles! Thank you!

A: You need 1 additive only. Both of your cars probbly has a flat tappet cam in them.

Flat tappet cams needs ZDDP (zinc) to live with out wipping a lobe out.

The EPA has pulled the major part of zinc out of todays SM API rated oils due to smog crap and zinc clogs of cat converters

So you need an oil that has a high zinc content in it like VR1 racing or some other racing oils

Or just run a good std oil and toss in a bottle of brake in lube/zinc additive

Myself I run mobil 1 sysn. oil and put half a bottle of lucas zinc break in lube with each oil change

Other than the zinc additive forget the rest of the junk out there. Its all snake oil

Q: Where can I find dual side pipe exhaust for a 1965 Mustang 200ci Straight 6 engine?
I have a 1965 mustang and I would like to put side pipes on it, but I can not find where to get the exhaust system. I already have the header but I would like some help finding the pipes. Thanks

A: Any muffler/exhaust shop in your area should be able to install side pipes on your vehicle. You may want to add cherry bombs or another kind of muffler on it to keep it somewhat bearable.

Hope this helps, good luck!

Q: 1965 Mustang?
can i have a/c installed into this car??
ok no i am not broke…lol…i want to restore it but have the some of the luxuries that newer cars do…a/c is one of them…

A: yes vintage air is your best bet

Q: Would a 1965 mustang pass an emissions test in Virginia in Rockingham county?
I’ve just always been a fan of 1965 mustangs and I just wanna see if I wanna get one.

A: shouldnt have to have one or pass one being that old

Q: 1965 Mustang AC system,What are these items worth?
I have a 1965 mustang AC condensor, and an AC unit that goes under the dash in the car, what would a Ballpark figure of what these items are woth be? Also the AC condensor has been sitting up for about 24 years do you think it is still good?
Maybe its the AC pump, not condensor, it is the thing mounted on the engine with a pulley on it?

A: Without being rebuilt/reconditioned they aren’t worth a lot. The under dash unit is really the only thing that is worth any money and only if it is an original Ford unit. There were a lot of after market units put in ’65s and they aren’t worth anything used.
